My Bday gift in Korea + FOTD

Wow... I'm on a ball here... putting up posts after posts (awesome) I just better keep it up. So just before we get to what I got for my birthday last week (1st May). I wanted point out that Akisa has raised the need for me to repurchase the Bourjois Liner Feutre again...(CLICK HERE for her review). I had discovered this liner back when I was in Melbourne, went through a couple of them and just realised I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT! I knew there was something special about this liner and was so happy that Akisa shared the same views on the product.

PROBLEM: I went to one of the Bourjois counters here in Korea and... THEY DON'T HAVE THE LINER FEUTRE! NO~~~ Instead there was this other liner which was not felt tip but had bristles (not fond of it). I am so upset now... They have everything but the liner I wanted WHY? Not happy, not happy at all... May be I should give others a try but... I just love this particular one too much bleh~~~

Anyway, just thought I'd share just how much I love this eyeliner...it's really the best I've tried and super easy to work with. So if you believe anything you read from Akisa's blog or mine... this is the ONE you should be trying out hehehehehe... I can guarantee that it's super long lasting and black.

From sadness to more happy stuff. I wanted to share with you guys what my friend gifted me on my bday last week. Yep another year older~~~ So here it is:

That's right from BENEFIT! The newest "take a picture...it lasts longer" body balm (awesome for the hotter seasons where you need to show off some skin) and a "smokin' eyes" palette. I've tried a few of the Benefit products over the years and haven't been really impressed at the quality compared to the price (when I was in Melbourne). The products just didn't work on me (mascaras, cream eye shadows, eyeliners etc.) But as these were a gift I can't complain and wanted to try them out.

First off is the "smokin' eyes" palette:

What you get in this compact kit:

eye bright (pink, next to the brow wax)
3 smokin' eyeshadows: pink highlight shadow, pewter base shadow,deep charcoal shadow
smokin' liner (black)
brow zings shaping wax
fluff shadow/hard angle brush
tiny tweezers for discreet touch-ups

First impressions: Since I didn't enjoy the Benefit products I've tried previously I wasn't too keen on what this kit had to offer. I have to give it credits for having everything in tiny sizes and means all you need is just this lil thing in your makeup bag. Let's go through what works for me and what doesn't.

Eyebrow wax: I don't like using wax on my brows (as my brows are full enough and doesn't need heavy application). Another thing is that the color doesn't match my hair color or is even close to my original eyebrow color. It's too redish brown~~~

Eye bright (pink): So this can be used on the inner corners of your eyes and underneath your eyebrows... for that subtle highlighted look. When I say subtle it really is... there are no shimmers in this creamy product and you may need to use quite a bit to get that brightening effect to occur. But I don't hate it, it's a good product as it does last once applied just not sure about the brighter looking effect it claims to do. Looks kinda flat to me as there are no shimmers.

3 smokin' eyeshadows: I will talk about these all together as the difference is just in color. To be honest the color pay off is NOT great... I really have to load up my brush and pack on the color to see any difference. The pink is too flat for a base and really does nothing underneath any other colors. The color I love the most is the pewter base shadow (middle of the pink and charcoal). This one has a very cool shimmery grey color to it and is perfect for that smokey grey look. Surprisingly, even the darkest of them all (charcoal color) really ain't that dramatic and dark as intended. So all in all I only love the middle color (would continue to use it).

Pencil eyeliner (black): I tried it on my hand and when I rub over it, it DOES smudge and continues to do so throughout the day although not as dramatic as the first rubbing. Hence it's not smudge or waterproof enough for my liking.

Tools: Tweezers are flimsy as the tip isn't precise enough to grab at each strand of hair and the metal is too soft and cannot pull out the hair from the roots effectively. It's actually painful to pull out the hair using this tweezer (not good and too tiny in size). I prefer to use the eyeliner and eyeshadow brushes I already own instead of the one in the kit as it's too tiny for any sort of good application.

Sounds like I'm dissing the "smokin' eyes" kit right? Well... it's my honest opinion as I have used it quite a few times since receiving it as a gift. But no worries as it's a gift I'm happy to receive and willing to try out. Not everything is suited to me (almost all things at Benefit) But it was great trying it out again.

What do you think? Agree with me when I say the color pay off ain't so great because for a smokey eye palette it should be more intense. But good thing is I can do a very subtle smokey eye with this... just takes longer to build it up.

So sorry for the bad close up photos... I haven't gotten the hang of the lighting in my room... not much natural light comes through and the light in the room is pure white... So I look heaps blue-ish~~~ But I'll find a better way for future pics. But you get the point :) I did apply the pink eye bright on the inner corners of my eyes and underneath the eyerbrows... you can't see it right? Well... I know it just doesn't show on me.

While I'm at it let me share what I had on my lips which I'm loving currently:

MAC's Myth lipstick with a coat of Shu Uemura's lipgloss in BG 952S. Both products have been raved about a long time ago and I just think this combo is the best for that milky,nudish, glossy look. Hate it/ Love it?

But this is one of those raved about products as well... mainly because it's relatively new! hahahahaah...

Alright so coming back to blogging has really been a breakthrough for me...as I thought at one point that I may never come back. But I'm back posting up my blog posts slowly as I go along...so terribly sorry but that's just the way it's gonna be for awhile. I feel so guilty that I hadn't even had time to get around to those blog awards I've been nominated for~~~ Now that I've forgotten what they are? hahahaah... Anywhoo... so as mentioned previously I am in KOREA!

I have made my move here and just wanted to share a bit of what I've been up to and the sites I've been seeing. I don't have much time to posts heaps of photos BUT future posts with photos will be up as I go along my journey here in Korea. So let's get started...

Just to prove that I am REALLY in Korea here is my stash of cash and why else will I be needing a T-money card... to get around heheheh...

YAY! street food...all the yummy hot food you want to keep the munchies away while shopping heheheeh...

I went to Yuldong Park one lovely Saturday (yes on my own and it was hell getting there without knowing a word of Korean~~~)... Anyway it was just an awesome park trek for me fully enjoyed it and yes... that's a person hanging off the bungy jump said to be real popular at the park.

And what happens in Spring over here... the Cherry blossoms bloom... so pretty~~~

My solution to ease allergies

So following from my last blog post, I’m sure most of you know about my current skin condition after trying out Fresh products. It’s still not perfect worse affected are my eye areas which are still red and rashy… I’m even developing double eyelids because of the swelling on my right eye. I have to admit that I look pretty freakish now hahaahaah… True story: I went for a shower last night, removed my makeup and my friend asked me if I had already showered and I said ‘I’ve already showered’. She says that I don’t look like I’ve cleaned up…and it’s all thanks to the red rashes all over the face which is more obvious once makeup is removed. My skin tone just looks so uneven now that people think I haven’t washed my face properly hahahahaha… deary me…

I just better pray that my skin will recover quickly. Now that I’ve stopped using the Fresh products I still needed to cleanse my skin. As you might know I’m a HUGE fan of Cetaphil, I love it because it’s soap free and is awesome for people who are super sensitive. But I don’t think they have Cetaphil here in Korea so my next best choice is… Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. I have never tried the cleanser from the classic Ultra facial line but I absolutely adore their Ultra Facial Cream. And going by experience I thought it was worth a try since I had nothing to lose due to the state of my face. First what claims to do:

- mild cleanser formulated with sugar-derived glycoside to thoroughly cleanse and remove makeup
- does not over –dry or strip your skin of its natural oils
- effective ingredients can help absorb excess oil and dirt on the face
- is pH balanced to maintain a healthy balanced skin condition
- tested for safety and gentleness

Along with the claims the active ingredients are impressive, for example the product contains Apricot Kernel Oil packed with Vitamin E (for moisturizing and creating soft skin), Avocado Oil packed with Vitamin A, D, E and potassium (restores natural moisture in your own skin) and Squalane derived from olives. Yep, there is no doubt that when using this product that my skin didn’t dry out like when you use most cleansers. It’s super gentle on the skin and although I have itchy skin, I realized the itchiness settled down after using this cleanser day and night for 2days. The lathering of the foam makes cleansing really gentle and gets right down the pores to clean all the dirt away. With continued use my skin will be normal in no time.

In combination with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser, I have never stopped using the Ultra Facial Cream it’s been my best friend since I started taking Oratane. It really does keep the skin moisturized for ages throughout the day and has been great for me underneath my makeup. I probably will get asked… but ‘NO’ I DO NOT use any toner between my cleansing and moisturizing routine. I’ve been laying off the toner for a while now since my dermo said that it’s more likely to dry out my already medically enhanced dry skin. May be one day I’ll get back to doing the full routine again but right now I’m totally fine with just the two simple steps. In between I love to do my exfoliation routine, as I’m dry and sensitive I only do it maximum twice a week. I probably shouldn’t have tried out the Fresh Face Polish sugar scrub and opted for the Benefit's "Honey...snap out of it" facial scrub (a possible future review) instead since that worked so well for me back in Melbourne. A lesson well learnt, right now I’m in no state to be trying out skincare products not till my skin stabilizes after having stopped the Oratane medications.

I have to thank Oratane for taking away my cystic acne which was just unbearable. But at the same time there is a little regret to know that it has made my skin terribly sensitive and that it will possibly be like this for a long while. Not to mention that although Oratane has taken away my acne there is no guarantee that it’s gone forever. According to most cases there is always a chance of relapse after about two years. So I’m having my fingers crossed that this doesn’t happen to me because I don’t think I want to go on the meds again. It’s really damaging to your insides and on the outside you might look pimple free BUT due to my dry state, friends close to me has said that it looks like I have aged a little compared to when I had oily skin. Actually a good amount of oil production is the key to staying and looking youthful. And what Oratane (just like Accutane) does is dry up all those oil glands underneath the skin so it inhibits oil production. It’s an extreme way of removing your acne right? Well, I totally agree and wouldn’t recommend it to people in general unless you’ve exhausted all options available. CLICK here to read about my acne treatment.

Final words: If you ever have any allergies on your face make sure to give Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser and Ultra Facial Cream a go. At least you can still cleanse and moisturize instead of doing nothing and letting the dirt collect as you wait for your skin to heal on its own. If you just leave it its likely your skin will take longer to recover without any sort of care. Once the skin is cleansed well and moisturized well it will produce a healthy balanced skin condition thus, the skin will only get better and better.

Wish I could love you...

Hey all,

I know it’s been a long, long, long, long time since I last posted and I am ashamed. But I finally have my ground and realized it’s time to get back at it. First of all, I wanted to say that I am no longer situated in Melbourne, Australia anymore as I have made my move to South Korea recently. Yep, being here has really created a stir in me with all the available brands in all corners of the city. As you can imagine making a move overseas isn’t an easy decision and there is heaps of things to organize before leaving. It was honestly doing my head in right up to the morning of leaving. Anywhoo, I made it here and have been enjoying it…not so much for the weather though. So technically it’s supposed to be Spring time here but it still feels like Winter with windy and rainy days…unbelievable. So enough about my move which I just wanted to briefly mention as I did say I was going to announce it once it’s all settled. So here I am again, back and hopefully on track if I’m not too busy… No guarantees of course as I believe we all ohave lives outside of blogging which is totally allowed hahahahaah…

Moving onto the topic for this post: Wish I could love you… There is no doubt that I can get hold of brands over here in Korea which is just unlikely to be available in Australia in the coming years. So naturally I got excited and wanted to try stuff out. What did I try? First up, is the Fresh Sugar Face Polish which I think was raved about by a few people… (not many to be honest) but I needed an exfoliator and came across the Fresh counter and thought back to what others have said about it. Hey, it’s not to mention that this is also one of the brand’s best sellers, so why wouldn’t I give it a go? Sometimes my reasoning can be rubbish when I truly just wanted it for myself hehehe… So here’s what it does:

- Nourishes and smoothes skin
- Gently eradicates dull flakes
- Leaves skin with a healthy, radiant glow
- Won’t sting or cause redness
- Can be used daily
- Ideal for all skin types (CLICK for more on the product here)

Sounds good right? Wait till you here what’s in it… Key ingredients include REAL brown sugar crystals (polishes complexion by dissolving dead skin cells), crushed wild strawberries (antioxidant filled with vitamin C to heal and protect skin) and other stuff like meadow foam seed, plum, mango and macadamia oils (helps to moisturize). It’s all naturally found ingredients which is great for the skin. This is one of those all in one products, it exfoliates, protects and moisturizes in one go. I used it every second day, rubbing gently in a circular motion for a minute then leaving it on for 5-8mins as a mask so it works deep down to remove dead skin cells, repairs and moisturizes the skin.

In the beginning I was really impressed; my face was noticeably brighter and instantly smoother…feeling well ‘Fresh’! I initially thought that this was a keeper for sure so after about a week it was working pretty well. I loved applying makeup on myself with such smooth skin underneath hahahahah... (I’ll tell you why it didn’t work for me later despite all the good stuff I’ve mentioned).

Now the next thing I tried along with the Face Polish is the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser which really was a sample given to me. But a whole 50ml tube worth of a sample so there was no doubt that I’d be trying this. I was attracted to this cleanser because the SA said that it can remove all traces of makeup as well as point makeup (eye/lip makeup). It’s perfect for me as I don’t like to spend ages on doing my skincare routine. First, what it claims to do:

- Fresh’s unique crème gel formula won’t strip skin of its essential nutrients
- Removes all makeup and is safe for use around the eye area
- Soothes and refreshes the complexion
- Gentle enough for a.m. and p.m. use
- Effectively removes pore-clogging impurities, including pollution and makeup
-Leaves skin clean, fresh, and hydrated
- Fragrance free (CLICK for more on the product)

This product also says it’s ideal for all skin types as its ultra gentle with ingredient such as soy amino acids (help with water retention, elasticity and firmness), rose water (calms, soothes, cools and balances the skin) and cucumber extract (anti-inflammatory property). All good stuff no doubt.

The outcome of switching to these products and having used them together for about 3weeks was horrendous. My face started to be consumed by red itchy rashes from the forehead down to the chin and around my eye area. It was terribly itchy to the point where I couldn’t get any sleep for about 2nights. It looked so patchy that I couldn’t even go out as I didn’t want to layer makeup over the top to aggravate the problem. And honestly the red splotches made me look diseased (shocking isn’t it). I immediately stopped using the products to see if it really was because of the Fresh products causing me grief. And within 2days I was getting heaps better…itchiness died down heaps and red splotches started to disappear. For products which contain such natural ingredients and isn’t scented unless it contains fruit extracts, I would think that all would be fine. Plus it was highly recommended by a friend whose cousin loved it but NO! It didn’t work for me. Since I stop using the two products entirely I couldn’t really figure out which one was causing the actual problem. But I suspect it’s the Face Polish because the sugar grains are a bit rough before it dissolves into your skin and then you have to leave it on for up to 8mins. A lot can go wrong if you use something you aren’t suited to and to have it left on your face for an extended period of time then repeating the process every 2nd day. I think I should have seen it coming to be honest, since my skin has gotten heaps sensitive from taking Oratane to fix my acne problem. On another note, the Soy Cleanser really does remove makeup off the face real well HOWEVER, it does not work when removing your eye makeup especially when I only use stubborn waterproof cosmetics. I had black all over my face when I tried to use the cleanser to solely remove my eye makeup, just to see if it would work. It totally doesn’t work so don’t believe what you hear.

Although this brand and these particular products didn’t work on me, I’m not saying that it will be the same for everyone else. It would totally be fine on someone with normal to oily skin as they both cleanse real well. Like I said “I wish I could love you (Fresh)” but it just wasn’t meant to be. Not to mention the Face Polish wasn’t cheap to begin with being close to $110AUD. So it’s such a waste and since I changed my wallet and threw out the receipt I couldn’t return it~~ I had to eventually give it away to my friend’s mother who is just loving it right now… at least it’s found a better home and is being used.

Anyway guys that’s just my experience with my first ever Fresh products and it’s been an ordeal for me. Besides me having extremely sensitive and very dry skin it just made my skin condition 10 times worse than before. This is just what happened to me… If you have used Fresh products in particular the Face Polish and Soy Face Cleanser, I suggest you comment on how you found the product to be working on you? Despite what happened to me I really wanted so badly to love them because it was working so great on me initially but I’m so glad I used it consistently and really got to find out whether it was good in the long run for my skin.

P.S. My face is still recovering as of now. I still have red itchy splotches under my eye (which makes me look like I’ve cried for hours coz it looks swollen) and on my cheek areas. But at least it’s heaps better than before, can’t complain.

At a halt

I know I've been away for almost a month now... I'm terribly SORRY but like anything I do sometimes it just comes to a halt for a bit (due to various reasons). Here's what's been on my mind and what I've been up to (no specific details).

Feeling stress
Neck & Shoulder pain
Random worries come and go
Concerned for a friend who is sick
Busy with self- studies I've set for myself
Loss of motivation
Missing my bestie who is over in Europe
Having bouts of doubt
Bad tempers flare as the weather heats up
Feeling guilty and stupid over my bad habits
Internet was capped for about half a month (slow connection)
Get tired easily due to the increased dosage of Oratane (3 capsules, probably the highest you can go)

So I guess overall it's been a bad month BUT I promise to be back and to deal with each problem as it happens without feeling too down. I'm sure ppl get like this once in awhile when you want nothing else but to stop everything you're doing (while the world is still spinning). However, that's only the easy way out right? hehehehe.... Anyway, I've still got heaps to work on in my personal life and I know better days will always come (so I'm not afraid heheheh...).

I have plans to update my site when I get the time so I hope you'll all come back then. I mean, I still have Christmas songs playing here haahahahahaa... terrible~~~ But I like to work on the blog in the one go when I'm free. I do have some planned posts I wanna get up bit by bit so thanks for being so understanding and for waiting. Ahhhhh~~~I'm feel much better now hahahahhaaha

Reflecting on 2009

Wow!!! Can you believe it? It's already the end of the year....Boy does time fly by or what? So this will be my final post for the year of 2009... and it will be a reflection of what I've been through and where it's taking me... Let's start:

Big Events this year:

My graduation from uni back in March
Assigned myself to a TESOL course
Attended CAE to learn Korean (level 1 only hahhahaha)
Started blogging on Xanga on the 7th of July
Transferred my blogging to Blogger on the 21st of September
Being able to gain experience through heaps of interviews and assessments at big corporate companies (but never landing the job hahahahaha)
Actively attending Sunday church when I can (more so than last year when I was a lil lazy and busy)
Started to teach and do private tutoring in English to international students
Watching my friends graduate after me (YAY!!!)

Makeup wise:

Actively started to watch Youtube videos and came across all these wonderful gurus and their blogs
Gaining tips off people on how to apply makeup from all over the globe
Had a desire to learn more and therefore purchase more cosmetics
My collection of cosmetics has definitely grown this year alone
Ventured into Japanese and high end brands (scary~~~)
Realised that I love using lipsticks now when I've never used it before (so delayed~~)

Skincare wise:

Began the year with the whole intense skincare routine specifically for day and night
Developed painful and terrible acne (which only got worse) which meant I started to try all sorts of topical treatments
Started to take Oratane which meant my skincare only now consists of cleansing, moisturising and sunscreening for the day
Tried the inexpensive brands of skincare for the first time (coz I have to) which is just perfect for sensitive skin

Why I started blogging?
To be honest.... I started blogging on Xanga in the middle of the year because I was just bored. The first half of the year was very busy for me in terms of all the short courses I've committed myself to. Then when that was all over and done with I just didn't know what to do with myself. I would watch all these great Youtube videos and wanted to share a lil about what I know (even in the smallest way). I learnt all the basics in Xanga and realised that most beauty bloggers were either using Blogger or Wordpress so I just had to give it a try. My momentum with blogging is slow but gradually getting there...As long as I have just ONE devoted reader I think I'll still be pushing on with my blogging (when I get the time of course heheeheh).

What I like about blogging?
I really loved reading everybody's blogs back then...I was a reader of everyone's blog I came across for months before I decided to start up my own. I love blogging and the blogging community because of all the support there is out there for each other. I love how we are all unique in our own way, leading our own lives in reality, but yet still have the same interests and topic of conversation. I particularly love knowing what goes on half way across the world through ppl blogging about their experiences as it happens. In all honesty, once I started to gain momentum... this whole blogging business can sometimes get a lil hard and draining for me...But I always get over it, and realise that there are ppl out there who wants to know more about Melbourne and who are going through the same problems as me (acne in your 20s) amongst other things hahahahah....

I wanna thank all those who have been reading and following for that last 4 months of journey in Blogger, even those who are just stopping by. I appreciate each and every comment I receive and feel supported by your words. Before blogging I was totally self concious and miserable about my acne (when I never had it in my teens) however, once I shared my experience as I'm going along with my treatment I have noticed the difference and the touching comments about my transformation. Then I knew that I shouldn't be so down since you're bound to get acne at some stage of your life (unless you're lucky and have great genetics hahaahah). So thanks to everyone who constantly leaves comments on my posts and for cheering me up :) Yep, I'm talking to you *Uinisan pointing at ya*

So I started off with terrible skin as you can see and over the year I've been able to get it looking decent again hahahaahah... phew~~~ Looking at old photos of myself, I can just feel the pain on my chin, mouth area, jawline and cheeks again~~~ Dearie me... it's definitely been a long process of getting it right and I'm still on the meds ppl... will definitely let you all know when I come off them (my next dermo app is in Feb).

What I need to do heading into 2010?

Finish off my self studies I have prepared for myself
Lose some weight (My doctors warns me about this all the time sighZ~~~)
Find a job (easier said than done hahahahaha)
Live a healthy lifestyle for the sake of my weak body
Save money (also very difficult to do...and there is so much I wanna get)
Get my hair done at the salon dye and cut (I'm so overdue for that...major regrowth problem)
There is something else I'll be doing heading into the New Year but I'll announce that once I've confirmed it all (be patient heheheeh)

In the meantime, let's be kinder to ourselves and take good care of ourselves while looking out for others as 2010 is a new fresh start!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!

The rest of Christmas 2009

Hope everyone had a great Christmas Holiday this year and received heaps of gifts heheheehe... So I know it's a lil late but I've been a lil busy during and right after Chrissy but here's what I did during Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day.... Can I just add that I STUFFED myself like a pig over the holidays and couldn't be more sick of big dinners and gatherings anymore bleh~~~~ Man... I ate heaps, don't get me wrong it was great food seafood and all... but when ppl say "you can never have enough"... Well, it's not true till you've really filled up your stomache to the point of (vomitting) hahahhahaaha... Dearie me~~~

So on with it... (this is for Sunny who has been pushing me to post up these pics heheehe)

Since I'm all about minimal these days... I decided to go with a Golden brown look with sensible eyelining hehehe... I didn't want it to look too much since it was to be a day outing and not to some fancy party heheheeh...

And here is the casual outing face look I scored on the day, just a hint of peachie blush popping through and a nudie glossy lip to finish it off :) Love/Hate it?

Ok so my food galore started on Christmas Eve... for a big lunch at Groove Train in the city...here's what we ordered....

Sunny and her fave at Groove Train... The Groove beef burger!!! It looks awesome right? But still not enough to sway me since I've been off red meat for 7years now heheheehee... This is also my sister's favourite.

I had the tasty fried calamari with salad...Check it out.....This is literally the entree size~~~ I can never seem to finish it but all their entrees are gigantic hahahahaha... Value for money I suppose :) Lunch really filled us both up... especially whenever we come to this place bleh~~~ Very satisfying if you've starved yourself since brekkie heheheheh...

Then we headed to Crown for a bit of a walk about and coffee when we came across this:

The Christmas show was a hit with families who brought along their children coz of all the lights, music along with the fun Christmas atmosphere. And what Christmas would be complete without listening to some carol singing... performed perfectly by this bunch of talented singers from some Australian Choir group. I just had to sing along as it really did get me in the mood hahahahhahaa...

A lady was nice enough to help us take a photo with this lovely GOLDEN Christmas tree... But...in reality I had to take one of her and her friend too hahahaahaha... Oh... the friendly spirit of Christmas hahahahhah...

Time for a break over coffee and APPLE CRUMBLE even though we were still darn full from lunch... Look how tasty this is with vanilla ice-cream Mmmm~~~~We had exchanged pressies earlier on at lunch...and decided to show em' off while having coffee hehehehe...

Here's what I got:

Yep, it's Marc Jacobs latest fragrance Lola... Absolutely loving this new floral scent since it's so great for the hot seasons. I also have Daisy by Marc Jacobs too, received as a birthday pressie this year...Totally loving the two coz they are so different from each other and smell just divine.

Here's what I got Sunny:

Uh huh a MARCS Chain weave bag CLICK HERE to view the closeup of the bag on their official website. And she models it so well!!! Sunny was really lackinng a casual small bag since all the bags she owns is only fit for uni use. She instantly fell in love with this bag one day we went shopping and we couldn't believe how inexpensive it was (but she felt guilty having to buy it for herself). So there was my chance to get it for her hehehehe... In the end we both got what we actually wanted for Christmas this year HAPPY HAPPY!!!

I didn't get many pressies this year but I did receive money $$$ from relatives so I can go out and buy a few things myself...WOOO!!! there's just something about giving money in Asian families hahahaahah

So that was Christmas Eve spent with Sunny...No photos were taken of how I spent my Christmas day and Boxing day as it mainly consisted of eating with the family. Not to mention they are camera shy but the memories are still there since I haven't fully recovered from indigestion from all that eating~~~~ hahahaahah... We had a lobster feast at our fave Chinese restaurant in China town called Shark Finn Inn...it was good and all but the lobster was just way too big for a family of 4 to finish, so we stuffed ourselves...

Having not fully recovered from the dinner the night before, we headed out again for dinner on Boxing day with my cousin... this time it was Korean BBQ in Carnegie~~~ Talk about pork, chicken and octopus galore for me.... and everybody else having their beef and lamb.... Again we ate way too much... and boy was I sick after that~~~ Right now I'm totally laying off any meat products and just sticking to plain porridge to recover from my Christmas feast... Did you guys feast out like I did? hahhahaahaha....

Anyway that ends my Christmas for 2009... it wasn't a White Christmas or anything fancy but I got to enjoy it with friends and family and I'm totally grateful for that :) Hope your holiday was just as fun and enjoyable. See you all soon in my next end of year post...

I've had a great couple of months trying out this blogging business... and I've got to say that I've really enjoyed myself and proud that I've lasted up till now. Hopefully, I'll have more to blog about and that it's interesting enough for you all to think it's worth actually reading. So... THANKS to all who have commented constantly with opinions and questions and more importantly for following me and my daily doings. I'll try to keep it up during the new year.

Hey guys... it's CHRISTMAS EVE WOOooo!!!!!! You gotta love it!!!! I know I've been real bam bam bam with the posts this month, it's just that I wanted to do as many as I can before the year is over. Now, it's like already 4.30am here in Melbourne and why am I bloody still up??? Coz it's so darn HOT, the temperature during the day reached up to almost 40degrees celcius today and isn't going to drop below 24degrees tonight...and this angers me.. I can't get any adequate sleep feeling all stuffy, warm and sweaty~~~ Trust me I really did TRY to get some shut eye but nope, it ain't working....So I thought I'd get up and do a quick post : )

A very simple one today...most will know me for my real simple looks especially coz right now I'm living out the philosphy that "less is more". Hence, let's just go clean and simple today with....wait for it... NO MAKEUP!!! hahahahaaaaha...

Here we go:

I permit you all to look real closely at this face hahaahaha... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON MY FACE... except for my trusty Khiel's moisturiser.... crap.. what terrible bags but WHATEVER~~~

I know most of you do that FOTD look and post it on the actual day but I couldn't so I'm sorry... But I did nothing to my face hahahahhaaha... Now that my acne meds are taking effect I reckon I can go without makeup sometimes... When I say makeup I only mean BB cream and blush on the face and nothing else (face wise, eyes are entirely different, I like to make them stand out sometimes)... I'm on a strict no makeup regime from my doctors' orders sighz~~~ But I gotta say it's working... One day I'll dig up some old photos to show you guys the comparison... Coz I know what you're all saying but your skin looks ok... Well, it was far from what it looks like now and I'm not feeling any sores on my face FINALLY!!! heheheehe....

Onto the HOTD (hair of the day)... Since I didn't put any makeup on that day... coz I was only going to drop off a friend at the airport. Mind you, it's a very quick trip to and back from my place... I decided to do something different with my hair instead of always having it down (like in many photos you've seen).

Yep, the old braiding trick hahaahaha... really kept the hair outta my face YAY!!! Especially when it's so hot these days... Man, I have heaps of fly aways and baby hair... oh well that's what you get for having thinly textured hair like me hehehehee... If you're going for that messy look then you don't have to be so fancy with your braids just do it randomly and grabbing more hair as you go along... you all know the deal I'm sure. Oh.. and you can see my acne scars better in this photo ... told you so... I had NO makeup on whatsoever, it's totally bare ppl heheheehe... BUT left the house with a pair of Tom Ford sunnies on HAHAHAHAHHA....

Wanna know what else is up??? That's right ppl, it's Catalina's latest makeup tutorial. I had asked if she could do a shimmery Christmas party look or Holiday look (call it what you will) and with no questions asked she actually did it. Wooo!!! She thought that shimmery GOLD would be a great starting colour to work with and I suggested a GREEN element to it just to keep it festive (and maybe Aussie too= Gold & Green hahaahaha). So below is the video she made from my request and CLICK HERE to visit her blog, there's heaps to learn there hehehehe...

Boy, did I love the look she created or what!!! It's so shimmery exactly what I asked for heheeheh... I hardly ever do any shimmery looks but I wanted to know that it can be done...so there is still hope now that I feel like I can experiment more phew~~~ THANKS SO MUCH CATALINA FOR THE VIDEO and for getting it up before Christmas : ) Talk about techniques ahahahaah... I totally enjoyed it and I'm sure others will too.

Great~~~ it's now 5.18am... I've gotta wake up in a couple of hours and head out for some gift giving meet up with friends hahaahahahaah... If you can't see your friends on Christmas day make an effort to do so on Christmas Eve...Gotta keep the holiday season alive ppl. Have a great day everyone and take care. Backtrack: Emiko's Graduation!!!

A quick backtrack post and this would have been a week ago now... (sorry for the delay) But, my dear friend EMIKO has finally GRADUATED from Monash University WOO~~~ I was so honoured to be one of her closest friends who got given a ticket and take part as the family & friends audience in the ceremony. Unfortunately, her parents couldn't make it due to busy schedule I believe and not to mention the expensive trip to Australia just for a graduation (you gotta feel for the international students). So I was very touched that I would be attending as one of her closests mates : )

A perfect moment in time captured...... it really does bring back memories of my own graduation only earlier this year at the same place and from the same university sighz~~~~ But I was glad this time I was on the other end of things, coz it was a real rush that day to get the gown, take the photos, head to the hall and making sure you do everything right when you go on stage hahaahahahahah...

What graduation would be complete without a gift of flowers to the graduate. These flowers were hand picked by ME at the florist which I woke up early to head out to. The reason being I knew this was the best florist in Richmond and where I live now... we don't have florist shops~~~ Knowing how my girl loves PINK I chose pink roses matched with my fave white mini gerberas and some other green flower in between all that. A very lovely looking short bouquet indeed... don't you think? I'm glad she liked it too.... phew~~~ hahahahahah....

A last quick shot of us before we headed to return the gown.... Not to mention we got to do a sitting taking those professional photos as a support network of Emiko's. I fully enjoyed it as it reminded me of those silly poses I did for mine hahaahahah... But so worth it because it's lasting memories of the day and I recommend ppl to get them done despite the price it costs to purchase them. I was very happy with my photos with my family and I hope Emiko will highly consider purchasing them for that lasting memory which can be valued and cherished over time.

So after we headed back to Emiko's place for Chinese hot pot.......Don't ask why? But it was definitely a HOT day that day.... and we still had HOT POT... hahhahahahahaa... Very tasty indeed coz of Emiko's specially made dipping sauce which I can never seem to get right. Another highlight was this guy...

MOMO!!! that's right... this is Emiko's dog which was her pressie from her bf for her birthday I believe. Now I suppose others have met him when he was only a puppy but I never got the chance to until now. It's no longer the tiny puppy but still very likeable and adorable. Except... this dog goes nuts over chicks!!! It just never stops jumping on me, licking me and chasing me... and my first gift from him was that he pissed on me....Yep, apparently he does that when he gets excited over strangers~~~ Awesome~~~ But I still liked him...if only he wasn't so hyper the entire time hahahhhahahaah...

That's it for my special backtrack post. I wanna say CONGRATS again to Emiko who through all hardships over the years has managed to finally graduate and move up in her studies by getting into a full offer grad dip course which will open up new opportunities in the future. I wanna thank you for picking me and letting me be part of your special day that day because I really did enjoy myself hehehehe....

Now, a BIG HURRAY !!! to those who are about to graduate, may your upcoming special day be happy and joyous, filled with lasting memories with friends and family. In the end, we all deserve it because we worked really hard for this day. To those still hard at work trying to get to that day, believe me it WILL come and you'll enjoy it even more because it's what we all look forward to.

LAST Sasa haul for 2009

As promised I am going to share my LAST Sasa haul for 2009.... and I'm glad it came before Christmas... because yet again there was some delay with my package sigh~~~ I had literally forgotten I had ordered anything till I got the door knock one day hehehehe....

So let's get on with it:
First off... let's do the all important skincare :)

We all know that the lil pink box is full of cotton pads and were complimentary. Most importantly was this lil bag filled with DHC skincare products (sample sizes) Why?

This just seemed interesting to me...It's a bag full of skincare goodies for when you're staying the night out away from home and you can't take all your skincare with you. Say if you were to take a week away, on a road trip and staying over at hotels or at a friend's place this has everything you need to keep your skin looking great. What's inside?

I have to admit that I have only tried the DHC cleansing oil which I LOVE~~~ It was my HG makeup remover when I was still wearing heaps of makeup hahahaahah... I literally went through bottles of these. It cleans off every bit of makeup including waterproof stuff YAY!!! So according to the paper of instructions on how to use these products in order it goes a lil bit like the above pic hahahaahh...

You're probably wondering how many do you get of each sample in that one bag? Well... how thoughtful is this... there are 7 of each skincare sample which is probably meant to last you a week's worth of stay. Awesome!! Not to mention it's a great gift idea for a friend...very handy indeed :) Mind you I haven't even started using them coz I literally might give it away since I'm not into an intense skincare routine anymore.

Onto another fave of mine.... you know what they say... your eyes are the windows to your soul~~~ Hence your eyes should be the first point of attraction in some respect...What more can you do but to dress them up for extra added attraction points hahahahhaha... Here's what I got for the eyes:

Oh well what's done is done and my fave is the DHC pack, eyelash glues (heard they were real good) and the Lancome mascara.

For H.K. Fans + Me Pie Face

Alrighty as promised I'd try to get a few posts up before Christmas arrives heheheeh... But progress has been slow~~~ Will have to share my Sasa haul next time once I get the time... In the meantime, I headed out today, it wasn't like a great day (weather- wise) but a planned date with a long time friend was organised last minute and I just had to meet her coz it's really been awhile... Don't we just love catch ups especially those which are spread apart for years...which means heaps to talk about hahhahhaaha...

Boy, did we go around the city and did heaps of shopping well my friend anyway.... I'm so proud of myself I bought NOTHING!!! hahaahahah WOOO~~~ One special thing my friend bought which I'd like to share with you all is her new HELLO KITTY mobile phone!!! She's a huge HK fan, I'm not so much but found it interesting that we would stock such an Asian exclusive model of a phone in Australia. Here's how it looks:

Ok so it's only available at Virgin Mobile as a prepaid phone priced at $149 AUD and is locked to only Virgin network unless you use up to $80 AUD credit then you'd be able to request to have it unlocked and change to another provider. Apparently, this is the most popular prepaid phone out in the market right now...and I have to admit it's cute if you're into HK hehehee... My friend was super excited to open it up and use it straight away (she's just crazy about it). Seriously, it's not bad for a prepaid phone as Sony Ericsson phones are really reliable and sturdy. Not only is the phone pink all over but when you turn it on the wallpaper is HK and everything about it just screams CUTE~~~ hahahaahah... Very worth it indeed.

Onto PIES~~~~ We had lunch at.......

Uh huh... it's PIE FACE!!!... this is down Swanston st and it's really a place for a quick lunch.... why is it special?

All their pies have faces on them.... hahahahahah.... We all know that in Australia meat pies are most popular but since I don't eat red meat my next option is a Chicken pie... which I loved... it had heaps of chicken chunks in it and tasted really well....chicken like hahahahaha.... Mind you, they have other stuff like baguettes, sweet pies and sandwiches. But it's gotta be about the PIES!!!

That's all I wanted to share today and will get onto that Sasa haul next (me promise) bleh~~~ My bad....

EOTD: Black rimmed look... (subtle version)

Hey all!!! How's everyone doing? How exciting it's only one week till CHRISTMAS!!! Ok.. well for those who actually celebrates it or even if it's just a small family gathering it's still quite warming :) Now I've had a busy week and whatnot and it's only going to get worse after Christmas... I've got heaps of self studying piled up waiting for me to get to...so that is my priority in the meantime. Hrmmm... if you're wondering how I'm going on my acne treatment well.......it's not too bad now. I think my body has been able to tolerate the higher dosage unlike before when I had an all body allergic reaction. Still baby steps though.... but there is an even higher dosage to escalate to... 3 CAPSULES!!! Yes..indeed.... Dear Lord, I hope this works out for the best hahahahahaha...

Anywhoo... enough about other stuff and onto what I have planned for this post. Uh huh, an EOTD look. I realised girls are pulling off really amazing heavy black rimmed eyeliner looks and I just love it!!! So I decided to see if it would work on me and have my take on it, so here it is:

Now, I don't have big eyes so in order to pull a black rimmed eyeliner look was a little tough. A little too much black rimming and my eyes would have looked like slits~~~ The trick is to have it look dramatic when your eyes are opened and to have them look subtle (less makeup looking) when your eyes are closed or looking down. I barely wear eyeliner on my bottom waterline or lashline...so when I did wear this look out one day... my sister said I looked kinda scary ahahahahhah BOO~~ for me.... But then I got compliments from a SA at David Jones and another friend called me punk. This is all because ppl know how little make up I wear usually.

You wanna know what's amazing... I realised the way you draw your eyeliner (on the top lashline) changes the shape of your eyes drastically!!! Here are the comparisons:

See how it just elongates my eyes just that little bit more. Plus the thicker eyeliner at the bottom gives a more edgy, intense look. What do you think? Love/Hate it?

Eye look on the face hhahahahahaa.... Yea I know what you're thinking... how can this be dramatic? Well... to me it is... and it is according to others around me... guess the camera can't really capture how intense it was for me in real life but yea....The thing is this is my take on it since it's what I think works for me (for the most part, I love keeping it subtle). In the future I'll try my best to do different looks. I really need to experiment more so I know what works for my eye shape and what doesn't. Keeping it up!!! heheheehe...

Let's go RED!!!

Quick update: Yes yes...I've been away again lately becoz I've had heaps of important appointments to attend ...so just been running around here and there. Have you guys started your Christmas shopping? Well...I come from a tiny family and presents aren't a tradition for us phew~~~ But this year for church there is a Christmas gift giving service which I've decided to be part of and I still haven't found a present~~~ So I plan on doing that tmr hahahaaha after my lesson with a student in the city :) Should be fun... Can't believe Christmas is just around the corner now WOO!!!

Alright so what's this about going RED? Well, it's really a backtrack post of a look I wore on a day out in the city like.... couple of weeks ago~~~ (sorry for updating so damn late...) So here goes:

Nothing special... just to suit the vintage Lacoste RED cardi I had on, I thought I should give the Kevin's BeautyMaker Aqua smooth lipstick in Cherry another try...and actually wear it out!!!... Mind you, I've never worn red lipstick out but I was happy that it was of the sheer type so very wearable during the day...

A few more shots.... and... sorry about the mean looking facial expression......I'll never do it again ahahahhaah....

And that's all the red I wanted to share hahaahah... Like/hate it? Anyway, after that day I haven't used the lipstick since... I found myself having to reapply heaps during the day because the lasting power was non existent in this product~~~~ such ashame......I prob only have half the lipstick left hahahahahaa since it felt like I was smearing it on bleh~~~~

On with some shots of our lovely city of Melbourne during that lovely sunny day (but forgot exactly when hahahaaha...)

Flinders st Station... the oldest station in Melbourne and is central to the city where all train lines run through. Isn't it just a sight? Love the old yellowish brick building, just classic :) Oh... and look there are RED stars hanging above the streets too hehehehe... perfect for my post theme haahahahaha

Federation Square just opposite to Flinders st station.... It's like an artwork played out in cubism...very unique and a very spacious area :)

The Yarra river with the beautiful ferry cruises for people waiting to discover Melbourne

Possibly the tallest building in Melbourne the Eureka Skydeck a building with 88 floors and an added feature of The Edge (basically a glass box which let's you see the view from under your feet...scary...). It's not as grand as some of the other viewing platforms around the world, but I have to admit that the view of Melbourne needs careful attention to notice it's beautiful sites particularly at night.

Headed off around the corner of Fed Square to Alexandra Gardens since it was just a lovely, bright day... It's green all over~~~ and the garden smell... really does seem like Spring but you have to be there to feel it hahahaahah...

I really do love going around the city whenever I get the time and noticing sites I've never really appreciated... and if you've lost the love for your city maybe you should take the time out and rediscover its beauty and I guarantee you'll rekindle that admiration and amazement once again hehehehe... Question: What animal do you think Sunny and I are sitting on? It's a cute and all Australian marsupial....hehheehe...If you're from Melb, I'm sure it's obvious hahahaahaha...

Alright, so I got my latest Sasa haul like... an hour ago... and I have to admit it will be my last online purchase for the year...and I might start to do review posts when I get the time on certain products. In the meantime, I've got heaps of self study to do, preparations for Christmas, shopping for Christmas, reading up on others' blogs...(coz I'm so behind~~~), Summer clean up around the house and a whole long list of other stuff... Are you as busy heading into Christmas?

NOTD & EOTD

OOoo~~ it's been awhile since I've shared anything cosmetic related and I have to be honest and just say... I'm in no condition to be wearing much makeup at all. Recently went for a checkup at my dermo and he has ordered me to increase my dosage of Oratane. This whole week I've been trying real hard to prevent myself from being in the sun or to break out in that awful rash I had earlier (complication from the meds). Maintenance is key to being on the acne treatment such as this....Unfortunately, the normal period on this treatment should be about 3months but because I've had troubles with it...it's actually taking longer and I'm still developing acne so.....higher dosage is needed to make sure the oil glands are dried up right away...scary~~~~ More update as I go along with my battle.... so far... it's a struggle at times bleh~~~

On a happier note here's a NOTD I want to share :) Wooo~~~ Lovin' it!!!

This colour from O.P.I called Clubbing til Sunrise was carefully hand-picked by Akisa as she knows I'm very much into bright colours to dress up my nails (if you haven't already seen some of the Mod about Brights OPI colours I've worn in previous posts). I was looking for a nice orangie colour for the Summer season and this seemed to fit the description perfectly. It's very shimmery in colour... with fine orange coloured glitters and when the light hits your nails it turns out to be a beautiful copper, bronz-y colour. Although, it looks bright in colour when worn it's not too overpowering like some of the other colours I've worn (blues and greens) and can be a great colour also for the Autmn/Spring season. Love/Hate it? Would you try it?

Onto the EOTD:

So I was feeling fancy and decided to actually wear some falsies for the first time in a loooooooong~~~~ time...I actually feel like I'm collecting falsies more than I'm actually wearing them. But since I can't do much to my face... it's great to still be able to treat the eyes hahahahaaha... I know what you're thinking... how can this be a treat or how is this look interesting? Well...it really isn't anything special but I just wanted to share what I do wear nowadays (when I'm bothered)...since I'm so plain these days~~~~

Almost all my falsies are criss-crossed in style because I love the volumised and natural look it gives...just great for wearing them during the day (if you're really bothered to do so everyday...). The pink lash glue tube is one of my faves let over from my Koji Maggie May eyelash box...comes out white and dries clear...super easy to use and non messy and real easy to remove :)

Closer look at these lovely lashes. So what do you think? Real easy right? yet, it's enough to transform your eyes haahhaahahaha... How often do you wear falsies? When you're up for it? For special occassions only? And what type of lashes do you prefer?

Vitamins and your skin

So here's the story: most now should be well aware that I'm currently battling acne in my 20s (shocking I know) and have been real keen on trying to get my skin looking great again. I realised that there have been more and more skincare products out there which claims to target certain skin problems as well as acting as a prevention treatment. Make up we all know only enhances your features but once that's taken off your skin condition can often tell stories about your lifestyle and you can't possibly cover that up.

One way of maintaining or attaining healthy, glowing skin is by using vitamin infused skin care products. But you have to understand and know your own skin condition well enough, to know which vitamins will attack those specific problems.
Without vitamins, your skin can only be described as being lifeless, uneven skin tone and purely dull. Your skin will also be prone to many external extremities and will find it hard to recover on its own due to the lack of vitamins. When taken internally through foods (fruits and vegie) vitamins don't only promote healthy skin but an overall healthy well being for women which keeps your day going.

Functions of vitamin complexes:
Vitamin A:

can help generate and strength protective tissue underneath the skin
helps prevent acne
reduces the prevention of excess sebum (which causes acne)
helps with the maintenance and repair of tissue
great for improving fine lines and wrinkles

Vitamin B complex:

It's good to know about how vital vitamins are especially for women as it keeps us younger looking and healthy in the long run. Now onto what I'm really excited about... I recieved a few vitamin related skin care products to try out....so let's share:

I know most are very familiar with Vitacreme B12 cream it has been raved about by a few gurus and I jumped on board once I realised that Shanghainese Dumpling was to be Vitacreme B12's AUS/NZ distributor Wooo~~~ If you want detailed review on this product please go to her blog and read up on it or even better contact her by finding out the details HERE. If you haven't tried it then ask her for some samples and she'll be happy to send you some...I received mine late last week, I got two mini tubes of the famous cream and 2 info/ facts sheets with detailing information about the benefits of the product.

It claims to:

reduce wrinkles and fine lines as well as preventing them
hydrates and softens the skin
helps stimulates renewal skin cells
adds radiance to your skin
improves elasticity and firmness of the skin
can also smooth out old/new scars

First impressions: I had no idea this cream was pink in colour as you can see (above), it's a thick-ish very creamy texture but isn't hard to spread. Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of the smell its a lil too fragrant for me... very floral parfum-ish. Feels very moisturising on the skin and stay moist for quite some time which is real good for my dry skin... I will have to use up the samples to get a real feel of what this product can do for further opinions.

Next are these:

These were also recommended to me by the lovely and dear Akisa. We got talking about the Vitacreme B12 initially then she said that she had found something she enjoyed using which contained vitamin A. I instantly believed her that this was good enough to try because her skin was just flawless, clear and was very bright. So at the Kit Cosmetics counter in Myer I grabbed a few samples of the Effective Vitamin A cream and the AM/PM Hyaluronic Infusion both by pH Advantage.

Effective Vitamin A claims to:

reverse photo damage
correct uneven skin tone
increase elasticity in the skin
helps keep the skin smooth and soft
can be applied to face and neck

First impression is that it's really light and you really don't need much of it and the skin is already moisturised (but apparently it can be drying on some people...don't know why?). The smell isn't as strong but somehow reminds me of Olay's scent haahahaha... but not too uncomfortable. Once on there is an instant smoothness to the skin which is amazing. Also prolonged use would give me a better idea of what it can do...still trying it out :)

AM/PM Hyaluronic Infusion claims to:

have 45% hyaluronic acid to help with moisturization
is to be used to assist other skin care regimes of any brands (to keep moisture locked in)
helps generate greater metabolic acitivity
holds water to the skin and within cells
improves overall health of the skin

Now the guy at the counter asked me what my skin type I was and I said that I'm terribly dry nowadays so to increase the efficiency of the vitamin A cream I should use this. As you can see it's a clear like serum gel and you only need a tiny bit applied to the most driest areas of your face to help lock in the water. This can be used during the day and the night. I don't know if I'm actually really dry or what? But my skin instantly soaked up the product but it doesn't mean it's dry afterwards it's actually quite moisturising for a longer period of time. And because it's so runny in texture it's not heavy after all other skin care routine already applied. You would honestly wake up with better looking skin which is well moisturised, very impressed! Once again because these are only samples I'll have to use it up and see how it goes later on. But one thing is for sure, and that is that this product really does help with moisturization on people who are really dry or work in dry areas (office buildings).

Christmas in the City of Melbourne

Haven't updated any post for awhile and I'm not going to lie I've been busy personally and when I do have time I'm just lazy hahahahahaa... gosh~~~~ So I'm terribly sorry but I have to admit that I don't have much to share in terms of beauty related posts because I'm just not allowed to wear much makeup (acne meds). I just came back from my dermo appointment and my doc wants me to increase my medication dosage bleh~~~ From now on I can just imagine my whole body getting heaps more sensitive and just more dry... fingers crossed that everything goes well... Coz I MISS PUTTIN ON MAKEUP!!! hahahhaahah....

Alright so I wanna share some photos I've taken around the city which shows off a lil of what Christmas looks like in the City of Melbourne. I enjoy posts like this... because I love to see photos of other cities and how they are made over for the holiday season hehehehe...

Here we go: Starting off with my day time pics

Our stars lining up Bourke st... They are so pretty~~~ ... I don't know how many there are but I heard it was in the thousands. This is our traditional decoration down Bourke st for years now and you can never get sick of it :)

Another tradition in Melbourne is our Myer Christmas windows which features mechanical puppet displays. The theme for the windows are based on popular children Christmas story books and changes every year. Check out the line, it's really a scene which most families purposely go out to the city with their children to admire. I've been lining up and overseeing these window displays since I was a child too heheheehe...

Melbourne's huge Christmas tree on the corner of Collins and Swanston st, right next to the Melbourne town hall ...doesn't it just make you feel like it's Christmas~~~~

Something for the kiddies~~~ A post box set up by Australia Post where kids can come ready with their letters to Santa and ready to be sent. This box is right on the side of the above Christmas tree on Collins st... Every letter is read and replied to from Santa so kids' idea of Christmas stays alive, I think this is a great idea. What should I wish for this year??? Hrmm..... haahhahhaahaha....

The same big Christmas tree on Collins but much brighter during the night with Christmas carols playing too.... So Christmas-sy~~~~ Sparkle Sparkle

Another Christmas tree displayed at Crown (Melbourne's Casino) very tall, colourful and bright.... Definitely a great sight for kids :)

Next to the big tree is this merry go round.... with different animals featured on it... definitely purely for viewing and not for riding but still such a grand sight heheheh....

Backtrack: END of the world (exams...really)

Just to be clear... I've already graduated from university earlier this year.. so when I say end of exam it's really referring to my friends who are still at uni heheheeh... So this is a backtrack of a day back last week when i received news that the girls have finished their exams and wanted to hang out. I'll share what we did that day... did I mention it was stinking HOT in the city that day... I showed a side of me to these lovely ladies hanging out with me which scared them~~~ I was totally annoyed at everything coz the weather was so warm, I tend to get that way... hahahahahaa.... don't you? I mean, I just HATE hot weathers!!!

Anywhoo.. on with what happened that day... and this was the day I wore that orange gold eye makeup look...so yea.. it was long ago~~~ ahahahahahaa....

Met up with the girls in the afternoon for lunch at Oriental Spoon (no pics) with plans later for a movie :)

The above taken right after lunch and on the way to the cinemas...

Just before the movie...man it was so hot we ended up going to a close by Korean grocer and picked up these icy yoghurt slurps... they are sooooo goooooood~~~~ apparently it's low fat too WOOO!!!!

What did we watch?

That's right... IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!.... Quick thoughts on the movie: I didn't really think much of it, special effects were great but fake at times (shocking), storyline wasn't as captivating for a movie about the end of the world...and Australia wasn't featured in the world shots BOO~~~ (this is just what I thought but by all means go and watch it yourself and see if you like it)

After the movie we just hung out some more doing silly things... how silly you ask? it goes a lil like this...

We took sticker photos!!! I know it's so high school but it's for FUN!!! and yep haven't done it in a long while now and there are just too many new machines which I don't know how to work...not to mention I have no idea what poses to pull out ~~~ I'm prob getting old for this crap haahahahaha... but I don't care bleh~~~~Having fun is all that matters hahahahahaha...

Where to next?

We headed off to Crown for a bit of a walk around and grab some coffee BUT....

We ended up feeling hungry and realised it was already time for dinner... so why not? hahahaahaha... I guess we worked up an appetite just by walking heaps hehehehe... What did we order?

I can't speak for the others but I loved my pasta dish coz it had mussels, calamari, prawns and scallops PLUS the fettucini pasta was al dente just the way I LOVE it and the tomato sauce didn't over power all the seafood... PERFECT!!! ahahahahah... Ok.. there is no doubt that having dinner at Crown was going to be expensive but I guess none of us cared too much because it was just a great night to be out and enjoying great food :) (Mind you, we don't do this everytime ahahahhaa)

After dinner... it was getting late but we still wanted to do some walking to obviously work off all that dinner.... But you can't end the day without dessert or in this case....

STARBUCKS!!! hheehehehe...

Got home pretty late that night after spending time a whole day out with the girls catching up. Now when I posted the Spring goldlights EOTD post I realised that the last photo there seemed a lil misleading... I was not naked ppl!!! Here's what I wore that day:

So I came home just hoping to capture the beauty eye makeup the SA did for me @ the Shu Uemura counter....but my sister... (off in the back) was annoyed with me hahahahahahaha.... sighZ~~~~

Alright guyz this was a long one but it's good to share about my daily doings once in a while, because as you can tell family and friends are so important to me so I love spending time with ppl no matter what :)

Hair styling product: Noble Cosme Volume hair base

My previous post about my purchases from iMomoko was very exciting because I was keen on trying out a few of the stuff... BUT as stated before there were a few disappointments. NOTHING to do with the products but more just coz of my own personal preferences and liking.

The one thing I did wanna talk about was the Noble Cosme Volume hair base featured in the video from a Taiwanese beauty show on my previous post. Let's see what it looked like again...

Some have said it looks like bra pads or shoulder pads...the only thing is this won't do for either of those uses because it's surrounded by the spikey velcro material on the entire exterior. The one pack contained two hair bases...one large and one small in size. This is purely to give that enhanced volume bump on the top of your head which can be matched with a pony tail on the end or a bun like style up-do.

Why didn't it work for me?

1. I have little hair which means not only is my hair fine in texture but the amount of hair is insignificant to others with thicker or more hair

2. My hair is just too limp and flat, which means it cannot be easily manipulated the way you want it

3. The current hair cut or hair style I've got at the moment is too short for any fancy dos with this gadget

4. There is lesser hair to grab at and hence my hair won't hide the gadget effectively

I went ahead and gave it to my friend Emiko knowing that she'd love it and make better use out of it than me. I took the chance to snap some photos of the hair base at work so here are some before and after.

Back view:

Notice how in the before photo the hair has no shape and is quite untidy (great if you're going for that home, weekend bum look). With the device underneath a layer of hair makes a heap of difference. The base is able to hold the nice volume height-ly shape at the top of your head, the hair is much more tidy and the curve of the base creates this nice shine for your hair whenever light hits the highest point of the hair do. (mind you, she didn't use any brushes or combs just her hands)

Side view:

Here you can see a clear flat to a more volumized hair do look with just the one hair base used (in this case the large size hair base was used).

Pros:

- comes in 2 sizes so you can get a simple bump or a dramatic classic volumized look

- is very light weight and you can't even feel you're wearing it

- real easy to use, just separate a layer of hair, place the base at the scalp, maneuver it up and down so it stays firmly in place and drop the top layer back over the top

- works with half pony tail dos or a full pony tail up do

- great for creating volume for people with heavy, long and thick hair

Cons:

- due to the design with it's all over velcro spikes, once it's worn and firmly in place it becomes hard to remove, especially when you have long hair

Warning: the hair base should be removed carefully, DO NOT grab and pull at it along with most of your hair still attached to it...you might create a hair loss problem later down the track with constant use (be gentle and patient)

- this is not a recommended hair product for girls with thin, short, fine and small amount of hair (ME!!!) because you will be caught out as it exposes the hair base clearly (stick to volumizing sprays for girls like me hahahahaha...)

Ok so I know some were interested in this new hair styling product from Japan and I hope I've shown a lil of what it can do for your hair. I have no doubt that this is actually fun to use but it's just not for me~~~

I wanna thank EMIKO for being my model to demonstrate how this hair base works...hope you enjoy using it coz it looks cool on you...but real crappy on me hehehehe... I'm just happy I got to see how this really should work on someone else, coz it really does work!!!

Hrmm... I was just thinking... this volume hair base can be used casually but also for party looks or even weddings, coz it's so hard to get that rounded, big volume look ready for a pretty headband or tiara don't you think? This cuts out the work of teasing your hair and using too much chemical hairsprays which just damages your hair.

EOTD: Spring time goldlights

Hey all,

Hope you're all doing well... Just wanted to share a quick EOTD however, it was an eye makeup look from yesterday but since I got home real late I couldn't post about it. This look was NOT done by me but by my favourite SA at Shu Uemura in David Jones...I had a little time waiting for friends to show up so I headed over there to grab some tips on a Spring makeup look for the eyes (since I can't do makeup on the entire face). So here it is:

So I wanted a bright and neutral look for Spring and she was able to pull off using orange (matte eyeshadow), shimmery gold and a metalic brown along with a dark brown gel eyeliner. The same colours were brought down to my undereye area where orange lined my inner half and gold along the rest of the undereye with a lil bit of brown on the outside corner of my undereye area. None of the colours were too harsh or stood out too much on their own, which I just love.

I only did my eyes at Shu Uemura and left the face on it's own...it was soooo hot yesterday and since I can't apply makeup on my face, I only had moisturiser and sunscreen on...(thank goodness for those protective layers hhahhaahaha).

Yep that's how it looks like...and was a look I was wearing all day. I have to admit I have never worn orange eyeshadow before was a lil worried about how it would turn out but I'm totally loving it. I didn't get the orange eyeshadow but did get some other things (I will share on later posts).

What do you think? Spring like? Love it or hate it? Mind you, I don't have big eyes and no obvious double eye lids either (my double eyelids folds inwards as I open my eyes) so to pull off any great eye makeup look seems so impossible sometimes... but I'm very happy with it...in terms of recreating it... gosh~~ I just ain't that confident in my shitty make up skills since I hardly wear makeup now.... (skill levels diminishing...would even poke myself in the eye when doing the eyeliner nowadays LOL). But it totally added colour to my bare face that day hehehehe...

Anyhoo~~~ I'm off now, hope you enjoyed the look... ARGH!!! It's so darn hot here~~~ Not a fan of the hot seasons that's for sure.

1st iMomoko haul~~~

First it was a 1st ever sasa haul and now it's my 1st ever imomoko haul...It's shocking how much hauling I've been doing online these days and getting real convinced by others to do so... not blaming others but it does affect my decision and raises my curiosity about the products ahahahaha.... Now this is the first time I've ordered from imomoko.com and I have to admit that it's been a good experience. I received an email saying that my stuff has been shipped on the 11th and it arrived today the 17th....fast right? I was expecting it to come next week, so I was heaps excited this morning :)

So let's see what I got:

Everything packed away nicely in a lil box

So this was pretty tempting for me to get since my hair is always flat...it's a volume base device which you put underneath a layer of hair and cover it with the top layer of hair...giving that instant volume look. One pack comes with two velcro shoulder pad like devices one big and one small in size. What convinced me more was this video (see it in action):

Pretty awesome right? I watched this before I knew it was offered on imomoko then I got real excited. However, this thing doesn't work for me and I'll tell you why. I just don't have enough hair and it's way too thin and fine in texture to hold the shape. So I'm gonna try it on my sister or my friend and show you guys how it really should work (later on). Definitely gonna give this away...it's really useless for me boo~~~~. I would definitely say that girls with heaps of hair, long and thick this invention will be great for you if you wanna make elegant yet cute looks with your boring pony tails :)
Now, moving on....

Now this is one thing which can help solve my flat and lifeless hair... the beauty hair volumising spray which is great for real fine hair like mine. Spray this at the roots and tease a lil and you've got great volume. I haven't tried it yet but will do a review on it after I've used it and check it out for it's staying power throughout the day....It's definitely not your usual hair spray because it's more water like so I'm eager to try it out. Luckily I purchased this along with the above device...coz I had a hunch that that thing wasn't for me but I was just purchasing out of curiosity hahahahahaa... (bad way to shop).

Yep, everyone would be familiar with this product because everyone has tried it (at least it seems that way). So since I'm a mascara addict I wanted to give it a try. I was going to purchase this long ago like over a year ago but never got around to doing it... So it says it helps with volume, curling and is clump free...does that sound right~~~ Guess I gotta try it to find out.

Bought two of these Lycee eyedrops just coz.... It's super cooling~~~ But I've heard there are new ones now that are stronger and gives your eyes this overwhelming icing feeling... I think this one is strong enough for me heheheehe... This one is for people who don't wear contact lenses (guess there is a difference in ingredients...who knows?)

So 2x2 is 4... yep I bought two of each of these lashes and don't they just look so nice~~~ and natural which I'm a real fan of. I was totally convinced to check these lashes out because Akisa had used the Lovable beauty style lashes in her wedding makeup practice Click here to see what they look like on her...believe me it's real natural yet gorgeously adorable. I bought the lovable ones so that they can extend my eyes, length wise and the soothing pairs for a more doll like look. Really happy with these...maybe I should have just stocked up on more~~~~ Did I mention how soft these lashes are~~~~soooooo soft.....

I wanted to get some lippies and came across the beautymaker aqua smooth lipsticks. I wanted colours which I normally don't wear (I have heaps of pinks and nudes). So I got a coral and red colour. Now these are really sheer in colour so the colour isn't so pigmented like you would expect from lipsticks. The sheer-ness comes from the tiny glitters along with it's very moist formualted lipstick. It's almost like applying lipgloss coz it's so shiny. If you wanna see colour you better be prepared to apply layers.

Do you agree that it's very sheer in colour and shiny for a lipstick? I guess since it's called the Aqua smooth lip colour this was the effect they were after. But I'm not very fond of it, I will put it to use maybe mixing it with other lippies and using it as a moisturising base underneath similar colours. The coral one was like... WHAT THE HELL? It didn't look coral in colour at all and when I removed it the cotton pad was pink in colour... so weird~~~~ its just too sheer to really show off that distinct colour it was named after.... too bad~~~

PREVIEW: What the HR mascaras can do 4 ur lashes...

Ok this will be a quick preview as I have promised some followers a detailed review on the HR mascaras (that will be coming up soon once I'm free to do so). In the meantime, let me show you what it does for my lashes... Look carefully and closely at my lashes... but before I show any pics... I'm gonna make this clear these are all my REAL LASHES and NOT falsies or in anyway enhanced (since I don't know how to use PS). You're gonna have to trust me on this one :)

So this was the HR lash queen FELINE (leopard print)...not to be mistaken for the HR lash queen. I will do a comparison later of the two and let you know my thoughts on them. But I guess you can see where I'm going with this..... hehehehehe.... especially with lashes like those hhahaahah...

On another note: I've been crazy busy with stuff going on in life, getting stuff done here and there (no details) but it's pretty much non stop during the day and at home heaps and heaps of crap waiting for me do....I might be complaining a bit but seriously...it's getting a lil too much even for me to handle. So I'm hoping things settles down a bit. Did I mention the weather is stinking HOT here in Melb mid-high 30degrees .... and with the new season comes... HAYFEVER~~~~ GREAT~~~ I'm coughing coz my throat tickles and my nose is totally running like a tap, not to mention blocked... the constant rubbing and blowing of the nose is causing dry flakey skin on the nose area... sighZ~~~ Not feeling well at all... so praying that will pass soon too. Anywhoo... got heaps more stuff to get done now so back to it!!! Catch you all later.... I just can't seem to stop apologizing for my lack of makeup or skincare related posts... coz I really do feel terribly delayed since I wanted to start the blog up to house my interest in this field but.... life is just getting in the way. Yakiniku & Choc delights

Alright for the meantime I'll be posting about what I've been up to while I can... so I don't have to catch you up on it all at the one time later on (really shouldn't be lazy). Right into it ppl... So Thursday night plans were made with my good friend EMIKO to go out for Yakiniku @ Torimatsu on King st (in the city). Not only have we not seen each other for AGES~~~ but we haven't been to this restaurant in ages too since it's always packed whenever we go hehehe... luckily we booked earlier.

Lookie lookie...

Yep... Mmmm~~~~ Japanese BBQ...(indoors with a huge fan on top of us). Why do we love this place? Well... it's all you can eat for 90mins and yes, they do time you. So within that time you can order as much and whatever you want on the menu :) We ordered everything: beef skirt, beef sirloin, ox tongue (these were purely for Emiko), chicken, pork, squid, frankfurt, vegetable (these were for me but we shared) and cabbage salad. I think we ordered two serves of the lot that night and ate ourselves silly!!! hahahahahah...

Introducing EMIKO~~~ who just before the dinner got her hair done at the salon hahaha...but we pretty much stunk ourselves up during the BBQ coz ppl at the back of me and next to us were all bbq-ing...no where to hide from the smell of meat and smoke... hehehhehehehe

Actually, the night we went the place wasn't so packed so I think we managed to eat for almost 2hrs just slowly enjoying ourselves since they weren't kicking us out. But I'm sure they would have rushed us if they were busy with bookings.

Where are we off to? For dessert of course... a meal wouldn't be a meal without finishing with dessert for the night...

Here we go:

Umm... guess the pics speak for themselves hahaahhaaha... We headed to Max Brenner in Melb Central that night and there were heaps of ppl hanging out late at night...all eager on some sweet stuff I suppose :) Btw the choc brownie sundae was NEW on the menu that night YAY!!! and we got to try it... But can I just say after a belly full of meat and vegie... then eating so much of this sweet stuff... we were terribly sick and full to the neck!!! HAHAHHAHAHA... But WHATEVER~~~

Catch up was great we talked about all sorts of things happening in our lives over the past several months and she's reading my blog too woo hoo~~~ Glad to know ppl enjoy it.

Home time:

Clothes I wore for comfort...so I could stuff myself silly HAAHHAHA... and clothes I don't mind stinking up since they were going to be washed. Oversized long white top, great hoodie cardi, black mini shorts (underneath the top), black patterned stockings. THAT'S IT! real comfy haahhaha...but somehow that night was kinda windy and cold so it wasn't enough but oh well...I survived heheheeh...

To finish off... I'll show you my damn tired face...after photowhoring for too long and feeling heaps full from dinner~~~ get ready....

Can barely pull a smile~~~There you have it, me and my night filled with great food, great company and finally having too much phototaking of myself...so off to bed I went. Which reminds me I should head to bed now too since I have an early morning and did heaps today SUPER TIRED~~~

Sasa...u're finally here~~~

WOO!!! Got my package yesterday!!! So I was in need of new mascara recently and headed on Sasa.com for the first time and decided to purchase my favourite masacara (it's so cheap on sasa). I didn't purchase much from the site but was very happy with my mini haul... in part for me and in part for my sister :) Here's what I got:

So my package came like in 3weeks... and I've been waiting heaps long for it... but can't complain since it was a standard shipment. But now that it's here I'm super HAPPY ahahahaha

- Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Mascara (waterproof): I bought 2 of these 1 for me and 1 for my sis, we both LOVE this mascara

- Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus: I wanted to try something new and I've tried the old ones before and this has a special two sided comb

- Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner: Stocking up on another one heheheehe

- Beauty Maker Love Pu Pu Cheek (orange): I don't own an orange blush but thought I should try it for the new Spring/Summer season... to brighten the day looks :)

- Dariya Maegami Fringe holder in black: I have the pink one but it's time for new ones haahahaha... I gave one to my sister

- A mini box of Sasa cotton pads (which was the complimentary gift I chose)

Alright tha'ts all I got really... nothing special nothing you probably haven't read or seen so yea... Anywhoo~~~ I just wanted to share coz I was a lil excited when I finally recieved them :) Looking forward to using more of that new orange blush...I'll do a comparison to the usual pink rosie cheeks I love...and see which suits me better (not everyone can pull off orange I suppose, fingers crossed).

I haven't completely disappeared guys... just been a lil busy with this and that so just be patient with me... Thanks to the continual support from new followers who jumped on board to read my posts. I really appreciate it. Not sure when I'll actually have time for regular posts but I'll do my best I swear :) Take care all.

A lil FLARE in your step...

Hey all, super sorry about the lack of posts this month coz... I've been a lil busy which means I have to be away for a lil while yet. So I thought I should just do a quick post right now to show that I'm still here heheheeh...

So about 2 weeks ago a friend invited my sister and I to a University production at Melbourne University. The production was of the dancing type presented by the FLARE DANCE club of Melb Uni. My friend (Viv) used to be part of the production and dances great in hip hop. This time round she was part of the audience and since I've never been to one of these I thought why not? Since it was the final night...so I tagged along...

So I didn't take any pictures of the actual performance becoz frankly I couldn't be stuffed~~~ Plus I was sitting a lil far back so yea I just took the time to enjoy the show hahahhaha... Some of the performance styles included hip hop, krumping, contemporary, ballroom, ballet etc... With some really smart choreographers making up some pretty amazing moves and lifts (for a smalll production). Fully enjoyed myself and I believe with heaps of practice and dedication anyone can learn how to dance (not all on stage were professionals).

It was a sisterly affair that night... Viv also brought her younger sister along (Maybel) gosh.. they look alike ahahahaha very sweet girls they are indeed :)

And so I brought along my sister too (Sylvia) ahahahaha... we just wanted to do something that night.

Overall it was a great effort of a performance and I did enjoy it...Since I didn't know much about this major event for Melb uni coz I'm from Monash Uni hahaahahah... GO MONASH!!!! LOL....

Alright I better be off now gotta head out again tonight, more sharing next time. Please don't mind the old backtracking posts but I just wanted to share a bit of what I do in my personal life (only just a bit hehehee)... take care all...really miss you all and I'm sure to have heaps of catching up to do~~~ screwed~~~~heheehhee

Mini skirts 4 all to enjoy

I think it was awhile ago I said I would show a lil of what I've collected over the weeks of shopping here and there.... So I thought since I was still up...I'd better get this one out of the way before heading to bed and getting up early for church.

So it seems that Melbourne is warming up a lill bit more recently and there is no doubt shops are rolling out the Spring/Summer stuff (finally~~~). Great time to be showing off some skin haahahahaa... To start off with just some of the things I bought, I realised I had bought a few mini skirts which I found quite nice and comfortable to wear.. check it out!

Shall I try them on for you to see what it's like??? Your wish is my command...

Just a simple navy blue cotton mini with an elastic waist band...as you can see it's like a wrap around skirt but don't worry when the wind blows... nothing can be seen when the above flap flies up hahahahah phew~~~~ BTW this was bought online.

This is a black chiffon like mini where the see through material is layered up, underneath is a tight slip which means the skirt won't be running up. Very comfy to wear and can be dressed up or down depending on the ocassion. Quite elegant really... bought this at Episode (sale item and in my size phew~~~).

Have you noticed how floral patterns are kinda 'in' these days... I found this one to be very cute...a cotton blue mini with pink, white and yellow floral patterns. Love it coz it's figure hugging and stretchy so it shows off your figure (no matter what the size, nothing wrong with having curves ladies!!!). I got this at Lolitta in Westfield Doncaster.

This black mini with studs is so cool hahahaha... has an elastic band on the top and is also of the stretchy cotton material so it's figure hugging as you can tell. The bronzy gold studs runs along each side in the front all the way to the back giving that added feature to a normal black mini. Got this also at Episode the same time I bought the chiffon black mini (above). I just couldn't resist...guess I was desperate to finally show off some legs... (not that I have great legs, I'm short and stumpy). But there's something about Spring/Summer that makes you just that lil bit more confident about yourself :)

So I know many ladies choose to stay away from the mini skirts... becoz most are hip and butt hugging but there is no rule to say who can wear minis and who can't. Believe me I was always in pants back in the days, really hated exposing myself (or so it felt that way), what kept me away from trying new styles was my low self esteem and confidence. Now I think back and think it's all silly...who cares what people think about you, as long as you are happy with yourself. OMGosh I have a lot of flaws when it comes to talking about skin condition, height, weight, body shape and other stuff... and these constantly get in the way of allowing me to express myself and being comfortable with myself (and still does now from time to to time, completely normal). But once I stepped out of my shell... I instantly realised I was much happier not giving a rats ass what others thought about me and went on to wear the stuff I wanted to. So just try it...if you think you look good in it then why not just wear it? For the sake of making yourself feel awesome about yourself and for no one else.

Spring/Summer is totally the time to be celebrating women of all shapes and sizes and I can only describe myself as being short, stumpy with wide hips (coz I was born in a Western culture maybe hhahahahaha). An important point is that you love yourself enough to look after yourself (to stay in tip top condition) and whatever you wear on top of that well... that's just expression and who doesn't want to be noticed hahaahaha (damn truth).

P.S. When wearing mini skirts especially the tight figure hugging ones... be sure to wear seamless underwear or a g-string so the outlines of your underwear/butt doesn't show up... now that would be showing too much hahhaahha... So which one is your favourite?

I bought a few other garments the other day.... crap I've done too much shopping... but will post about it when I get the time or remember so yea... ummm... I think I will be away for awhile (a couple of days maybe) coz I'm just a lil busy in my personal life right now. But if I get bored you know to keep reading my random posts on just random things food related, events related, animal related haahhhaah stuff like that... alright really gotta sleep now it's 1.15am~~~~~~

Sushi CHOO CHOO~~~

Went through some pics on my fone and almost forgot that I had taken pictures of my dinner in the city with my sister about 2weeks ago. We didn't feel like anything heavy and decided to go for sushi train CHOO CHOO!!! hahhahhaha...
Where did we go?

TOMODACHI...Yep it's this Japanese restaurant in the city at Melbourne Central. I have to admit it ain't the best sushi train out there and guess what? My sis and I happened to eat up to $79 in total!!! Two chicks eating up to 80bucks is like crazy... that's the price of eating yumcha with 3 ppl~~~

So the calculations of the choices you make are according to the coloured plates you pick. I forgot whether the golden plates or the black plates were the most expensive but we had quite a few of those~~~~ hahahahahaa no wonder the bill was like crazy.....

We really shouldda sat closer to the chef all the way down the other end... so we could get the freshest made sushis and the new varieties... By the time it came around all the new stuff was gone, snatched by others BOO~~~

You know it girls, how do we always finish off a meal to feel absolutely satisfied? DESSERT TIME!!!!! OH YEA~~~~ Now I'm pretty sure these were quite pricey too.... but we didn't care or at least I didn't care coz I wanted to try some...here's what we got...

This something they called vanilla ice-cream wrapped in rice cake (kinda what it said on the menu). I was interested in what it was... asked the waiteress and she didn't describe it well but I just decided to get it anyway. It's really just like a mochi gooey skin wrapping up a ball of vanilla ice-cream with fresh strawberries and strawberry sauce. It was quite nice and clean way to finish off the meal (this was my choice).

My sister's choice on the other hand was this green tea ice-cream, sprinkled with nuts with a red bean paste bottom base. The whole thing came together really nicely and it tasted awesome... ICE-CREAM ALL THE WAY!!!

Completely cleaned up the plates OMGoodness....Delicious and for a dinner which was meant to be just a light one.... turned out to be one which filled me up to the neck hahaahahah...

I'll be having some more Japanese with my friend sometime soon, we've decided on Japanese BBQ (Yakiniku) and it's a place we have to book in advance becoz it's like popular and always packed... (with the limited seats for the actual BBQ area). So I'll be sure to share on that when it's over haahahaha.

On another note: here's the reveal of the nail polish I wore in my makeup post previously... Nice guess Linh aka xSplendidStar you were half right hehehee... Most would have guessed that I love O.P.I nail polishes. So you were right it was from OPI :) . The name of it is... Done out in Deco, indeed it is a very lilac purple colour. Following on from my pastel Spring colours I've posted about previously I thought I'd go back and see what else I had that fits this bright colourful new season...

So here it is...

It's a lil more toned down from the previous blues, greens and pinks I've been wearing but it still brings out that lovely lavender colour which also reminds me of Spring :)

Makeup 2 compliment your acne battle

Awesome, I woke up early today and decided I better get on with doing my follow up post about my current makeup routine. Previously, I mentioned I'm going through my Oratane acne treatment and therefore had to change my skincare routine and the products I used (which I also shared). Now i'ts onto the makeup part becoz frankly I can't leave the house with a lil bit of makeup. Hrrmmm...I've probably been wearing makeup from time to time in high school (just to go against the rules) and practically EVERYDAY out of my 4yrs at uni. So I think I've learnt a thing or two...well at least the basics so let's get started.

Firstly, I'll let you guys know what I used to wear on a daily basis for a comparison coz the amount has shrunk a lot.

Base makeup: the usual base control, liquid foundation, concealer, bronzer for contouring and pressed powder to finish.

Point makeup: eyebrows, lashes, blush, eye shadow, lipstick....(the usual)

The above pics were from my old blog coz I couldn't be bothered taking them again. Now I LOVE makeup but I hate caking it on... and the above base makeup is what I would consider to be a heavy load on the face. My simplied version (when lazy) used to be like this....

But as you all know...too much makeup can aggravate your acne to some degree. Therefore, my old concealer, base control, liquid foundations were all going to be too much on the skin now. That's not to say that you can't ever wear makeup while being on acne meds, provided you pick the right products, remove the makeup properly, protect and moisturise your skin thoroughly blah blah blah.... My dermo said that it's harder for young adults (like me hahhahaah) to be going through acne becoz it's really the time when we need to face the world and make an impression, so he understands that makeup is kinda necessary to a degree. PHEW~~~ hehehheheh

Oratane or any similar acne treatment meds requires your makeup products to have a sunscreen ingredient in it for the protection against the sun, especially when you become more and more sun sensitive during the course of the treatment. Makeup should also be oil free so it does not further clog up the already clogged pores on the face...causing yep... you got it more acne. Powders are great on acne skin particularly mineral powders as they do not sink into the skin but sit on top to give that even look, but any sort of powder would be fine with acne prone skin. Lip products should also contain sunscreen ingredients but for the most part be moisturising. Concealers or cover sticks should somehow have medicated ingredients to fight/prevent acne as most are a thick creamy texture it really does make it hard on the acne areas you try to conceal (I avoid concealing altogether).

Now before I show you what I use and how I do it... I have to admit I don't follow all the instructions to the bone becoz I really just use what I've currently got which seems to work fine without making my skin any worse. So this stuff works on me... but may not work on others so let's start....

So always start with a clean, moisturised and sunscreened face (skincare I use). Don't mind my acne scars and redness since I tend to flush heaps after I wash my face and applying moisturiser haahhahaha

So this is my foundation substitute these days. My Missha M Perfect Cover BBcream with SPF42+++ in shade No.21 (light beige). I only use a minimal amount as you can see coz it spreads real easy...The thing is... I don't intentionally go and cover all my blemishes, I just want my skin tone to look even. Heaps of reviews have been done about this product so I'm not going to go into it but I DO LOVE IT!!!

See, you catch my drift now... It's taken away the redness, evened out the skin tone but is still quite light on the face. I steer clear of my eye areas and focus the product on my cheeks and chin (most red areas). The important thing about putting on bbcream or oil free foundation is that... since you're already so dry... smearing or rubbing the stuff onto the face will only create dry flakes and it ain't pretty... So what I do is a dabbing motion... which takes time to cover your face but the dab and pat action means you're only applying it to the surface of the face and not rubbing into the pores as much. Therefore, no flakey dry skin appearing becoz you're not being rough when applying. There is no way about it just use your hands people ...with gentle dabs and it will spread so don't worry.

Then it's onto the eyes...

I also don't do much to my eyes these days but just wanting to excentuate them a lil since I have monolids and they are quite small hahahaha.... So the usual eyeliner and mascara is a must. The pic where I'm holding on the red mascara with my nose and upper lip is where you can see a difference between my made up eye and the eye with nothing (very subtle) but can you guess which eye has makeup?

That's right... nothing special at all... nothing bling bling or captivating about these eyes hahahaha... but I'm probably all about that now... being simple that is (hard to do when I've got a stack of makeup just sitting there and telling me to use them~~~~) LOL. No heavy eyeliner and no heavy clumpy mascara just your simple everyday eye do (well for me anyway).

As for the cheeks... well recently while entering Blovet beauty's follower giveaway I had mentioned that my current makeup product is the Posie Tint from Benefit. Once my redness calms down and the bbcream is applied I actually look quite pale and many would mistaken me for being sick haahahah...So a flush of colour is a must. Pinkey, rosey cheeks are just so adorable don't you think? Anyway, this stuff lasts all day and not much is needed for that natural look. (Actually you can probably see the difference in my eyes better in the above middle pic hahahaha... I wanted to do a comparison of the 2eyes at each step but screw it... I went ahead and did the other eye to finish the look afterwards ahahaha).

Lippie time... must apply a lip balm beforehand but not too much that it looks and feels oily (just enough). Then go ahead and apply your complimenting lipstick or lipgloss since there are no restrictions on this part for acne prone skin heheheehe...

Since any powder is allowed with acne prone skin I decided to stick to my pressed powder which I've always used. I find mineral powder or loose powder too messy... I do have them and may go back using them later when I feel like it hahaahaha... This is just to set the bbcream and tone down that pink blush...sometimes I have a tendency to go too crazy with my blush ahahahahah (but it's fixable).

So with my previous makeup products I used (pics at start of post)...I find that I was also super oily after 2-3hrs of wearing it...And have to blot away the oil when I can. But now that I've simplified things and taking the Oratane meds I notice that I don't produce as much oil as I did before. I still carry oil blotting sheets but I don't use them as often. Since I'm only like 2months into my meds, my oil production on the face has been diminishing each week which is good (but means I'm super dry too~~~).

Face: Missha M Perfect Cover BBcream (No.21 light beige)

Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressedd Powder (No.1 pale yellow)

Cheeks: Benefit's Posie Tint

Eyes: Revlon Colorstay eyeliner crayon (Black/noir)

Majolica Majorca curl, curl, curl toward the sky mascara base

IMJU Opera Mylash mascara (black)- for bottom lashes only

MAC Dsquared lipstick in Nude rose (lustre)

Compared to what I used before ... I couldn't fit what I would wear daily in one shot...So I guess I have cut back and for the better too hehehheh... wanna see the finished look?

So there it is... what I use makeup wise to compliment my acne treatment atm...Hope this has been informative and highlights the importance of keeping it simple for the sake of having better skin. I mean I'll only have to lay off any sort of creative makeup for 3-6months (seeing how I go on the meds) and is a small price to pay in the long run. Don't try to hide every blemish and pimple spot it will only get worse with concealer type stuff... I would steer well clear of that. I remove my makeup the instant I walk through my door, coz right now every min counts when you have stuff on your face. Enjoying the naked face feel now when I didn't before haahahaha...But no choice when I have to go out so a somewhat even skin tone just enhances it a lil. Oh and I don't cover my eye bags or dark circles anymore as you can see... since I'm no longer using concealer...I just let it be hahahahaha....

Bird watch...

Have no idea why I did this but...then again I just find it amusing I guess...So I was home the other day and while making brekkie I noticed a lil maggie (magpie) sitting in our backyard on the clothes line. I can see it coz our kitchen looks out onto our backyard area and the main road beyond that. Several hours later I head back to the kitchen the maggie is still there... so I found it interesting and wondered what it could be doing or waiting for???

Lil' mag just sitting there under the heat of the sun~~~Kinda looks like a fluffy penguin in a way... then what happens....

The family shows up hahahaah... and the lil mag was being fed by either its mum or dad regurgitating into him/her ewwww~~~~~ And this feeding frenzy went on for hours I suppose but I was only looking out on the action for probably 15mins hahhaahaha ain't no serious bird watcher (just curious).

In the short amount of time I was pondering over what the heck this bird was doing on my clothes line for so long... I managed to capture several sides to its behaviour (here's what I think was going on in its head ahahahahahahah maybe?). The parents would come back regurgitate and then fly off to get some more food and fed lil' mag. It's quite fascinating now I think of it.. our lives are too busy to notice such things as nature and animals around us daily. And then to appreciate them for their part in the environment is just rare. Sometimes it's great to just sit there and observe in peace while taking in all the surroundings around you. Makes you think about weird thoughts like ... what if I was a bird?... would life be any easier?... wonder how it's like to fly?...is their family behaviours any different from mine?...hehehehe...

No doubt, we keep ourselves occupied at all times becoz it's the way of life but that doesn't mean we have to miss out on alone time to notice certain beautiful thinigs which constantly remind us that amusing things can occur anytime or anywhere. If you just take the time to reflect on other things beyond your work/school/social life an internal realisation that certain things just don't matter as much, you'll actually feel content and happy in that moment :)

On the subject of birds~~~ we have heaps of birds in Melb and most of my friends hates pigeons for some reason (saying that they are dirty...). In my area I also have cockatoos, parrots, ducks, geese, magpies, black crows and heaps of other native birds I'm not too sure about...I guess I do live in the woods somehow hahhhahaa... here's a pic of seagulls feeding in front of our State Library in the city....(heaps of them...)

Promised skin care routine

Okie dokie~~ I'm back people.... It's been probably way too long that I've done a serious post coz my internet was capped what a bummer~~~ And I'll try to use my internet usage sparingly or I might even consider upgrading to more download usage? Hrmmmm... I like the 2nd idea hahaahahah

So this is the long awaited skincare routine I promised right after I shared my acne fighting post. I thought it would be great to do this since what you use on your face when you are fighting acne is completely different to when you have normal skin and you don't need to avoid anything. This is no longer the case for me since I'm have developed terribly sensitive, dry and sunsensitive skin all over (caused by Oratane).

Let me first mention that I was a huge Lancome skincare fan (up till 2months ago) hahaahhaa... My friend Sunny from Korea introduced the range to me and says that it was popular amongst Korean women. I gave it a try and didn't turn back especially coz I was using the whitening range which wasn't available in Australia (had to order from Japan).

It was quite effective and people started to notice that I was getting a lil whiter at a time (which was the point heheheeh). In terms of routine it was the full lot... cleanser, toner, moisturiser, whitening eye serum (shiseido) and eye soother (shiseido),sunscreen. For a long time since my teen years, I was using Shiseido products and couldn't move on from the brand. It wasn't like it was doing miracles on me but I didn't know what else I could use and I wasn't very experimental at all back then ahahahahaaha...

Then as soon as I ran out of my second batch of whitening products from Lancome and with the economy going bust I didn't think it was worth purchasing more till the economy and exchange rate were getting better hahahahhaaha... (I'm quite practical). Then I got given certain skincare items which Sunny's parents would kindly add to her package over to Australia especially for me and somehow I was living off using them (just whatever was given).

When you run out and money is tight it's great to get free stuff to try and in the above photo I have to admit that I only purchased the Lancome tonique toner (blue clear bottle), the rest was a gift from Sunny's parents (God bless them, so terribly sweet~~~). Loved the Mousse Eclat foam cleanser and was also given the Giorgio Armani Crema Nera moisturiser (black container) this stuff was seriously expensive to buy retail in Australia and I got to try it for free hehehehe... I then got the Lancome Hydra Zen and the Kiehl's Ultra facial moisturiser as samples to try out. I was sorta alternating between 3 moisturisers before I started my acne medication... I particularly loved the Kiehl's stuff coz it wasn't as harsh over a prolonged period of time... So these were the stuff I would have used only months ago and now onto the stuff I prefer to use NOW (photos below).

Yep, packaging may not be as attractive and the products are mainly quite inexpensive but it gets the job done and protects you 24/7. Wanna check me out in action? Here we go.... (don't mind the photos I took them at night in the bathroom right after I showered...so it's a lil dark + my naked face bleh~~~ but you get the point)

It's the best time to do your skincare when you get outta the shower becoz due to warmth from the steam and water it keeps the pores open for a lil longer. So first you must cleanse to get rid of extra dirt and whatnot left behind from a full day out or even when you've been home all day, your face picks up stuff. TIP: DO NOT wash/cleanse your face in the shower... this is no joke. Many keep a bottle of cleanser in the shower becoz it's just easier to reach for it and wash ur face while you're already washing your body. BIG NONO!!! the warm water coming from the shower head due to gravity actually hits your face much harder than you think. Since the skin on your face is very delicate and sensitive, this face under shower head bad habit can permenantly damage your facial capillaries and is especially harsh on your facial skin when you're already sensitive (So please kick the habit if you're still doing it). I'm currently really into my Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser for sensitive, dry skin (recommended by my dermo). This stuff is great when you're fighting acne, it's terribly gentle, does not contain any soap ingredients (so it doesn't foam up), pH balanced, gooey liquid consistency and free from fragrance (which won't cause allergic reactions). I have to admit I wasn't overly excited about Cetaphil coz it wasn't Lancome ahahhahahaa... but it really does wonders, and works hand in hand with my acne medication.

Then I just moisturise with my trusty Kiehl's ultra facial cream...tried the moisturiser one but wasn't as longer lasting as the cream version. So I'm definitely loving this for my face. It's still quite light weight despite it being a creamy texture and boy does it keep you moisturised for the whole day. Really does keep the skin plump on the face and keeps flaky skin far far away. This stuff is a lil more pricey than Cetaphil but I'm willing to spend on a good moisturiser which also isn't too harsh. People when you apply your moisturiser and you feel a stinging, tingling sensation .... YOU ARE TOO DRY!!! You're not moisturising enough, not using enough and not doing it often enough... so keep it up and you can keep old saggy skin away for a lil while yet. It's terribly important to moisturise especially when you're on acne meds as it dries you out like crazy and there is no other way about it JUST DO IT!!!

Then it's time for moisturing your lips as that gets the driest of all... Lucas' papaw ointment is the best as it's made from fresh carica papaya which is then fermented (quite organic). This can be used for boils, burns, cuts, chafing, cracked skin, rash, insect bites, open wounds and nappy rash (multi-purpose ointment). Most girls in Australia has this in their handbag coz it's made locally in Aus and inexpensive. It does wonders on your lips in particular, I have to say it's my fave compared to vaseline :)

During the day I also cannot leave the house without sunscreen on the face becoz my skin turns real red once the sun hits my skin. So it must be protected...currently I'm finishing off my Lancome UV Expert also not available in Australia. And I love it for maximum protection with SPF50 PA+++ so the sun doesn't get down to damaging the DNA in the skin. But once I run out I'm gonna try something cheaper and more generic, since they say SPF 30 is all you need to stay protected in Aus (although I'm a lil unsure about this, coz I'm sure the sun is way more harsher or at least it feels that way~~~).

So I go from expensive high end skincare products cleansing, toning, serums, moisturising, sunscreen and eye stuff to pretty inexpensive stuff you buy at chemists or drugstores which consists of just cleansing well and just moisturising really thoroughly. No toning and no other mish mash. Keep it simple when you're on acne meds or just for the sake of not burdening your skin with too much.

Skincare to me isn't only about the face (although I have been focusing on it previously) but it's about the whole body. Since I'm on the meds it dries out the entire body, so I moisturise with Cetaphil moisturising cream and this goes all over the body to help lock in the moisture while adding more moisture. And since I'm so dry nowadays my skin just absorbs the moisturiser, which means I have to do it at least twice a day so I don't become flaky all over. There are areas on the body which dries out more such as your knees, back of the knees, elbows, earlobes, hands, feet and the neck. For these areas I would use a baby product called Dermeze ointment which has the consistency of vaseline quite dense and thick. And you just smear it on the driest areas to keep them from cracking or drying up any further. Baby products are the best for people going through their acne treatments becoz it's the most gentle products you'll find in the marketplace for skincare.

So I think I've covered everything to what I used before and what I'm using now. From the face to the body. People I can't stress enough how important it is to care about the most important organ of the body (the skin) becoz it's whats protecting us from many outside extremities. Keep it simple but washing, moisturising and sunscreening and you'll be safe. This is especially important to those who are on acne meds like me...use what your dermo recommends coz they know best and don't be afraid of cheaper products coz it promises the basic protection for your skin while minusing out all the complicated stuff which may cause harm on your sensitive skin in the meantime when you're fighting acne.

Wow... so this has been another long post and I'm sorry about that but I just felt this all had to be shared for the sake of people going through their acne battles like me atm. Check out the finished product...clean and fresh face...ready for bed hahaahahaa

Ok people before you start hating me for my outrageous post title let me just show you what I really mean....

I ate this lil fella hahahahah... A Shitzu shaped tiramisu cake... I almost had ya didn't I? HAHAHAHA... Gosh I don't even eat red meat let alone eating dog meat (NOWAY!!!). My mum bought this on a Sunday...she came home with a huge cake box and told me that it was a dog...Man I totally didn't get what she meant but there you go.... She said it was too damn cute and just had to get it~~~

Geez...I have to agree with my mum on that one... it's just too darn adorable...Look at those chocolate puppy eyes and it's big button nose...and it's lil strawberry tongue. Aww~~~ Looks so realistic too don't you think?

Then we had to dig in and eat it hahahaaha... It says it's a tiramisu cake but seemed more like a coffee scroll cake...and throughout the log there is a fudg-y chocolate centre, which my sister finds ironic it's like having the dog crap running through the dog's body~~~ oh dear~~~ (wish she hadn't said that) hehehehe...There was no doubt heaps of cream scraping before you can eat this dog it was totally covered with it but guess we only cared about the whole novelty thing about this cake (wasn't a great cake afterall). Oh btw this cake was from Bread Top (I think) just an Asian bakery place throughout Melb if you see one .... just wave hi to the dogs!!! hahaaahahaa... Woke up in the morning, opened up the fridge to grab some milk and found the dog's head in a plastic container (must have been the leftovers). Man...I felt so bad for the cute lil dog with it's head crammed in a box and kept talking to it (you poor thing~~). Think my dad thought I was going insane LOL. Come on people look at that face (above) again and tell me that you wouldn't talk to it too~~~ (or maybe it's just me)

While I'm on the topic of sweet stuff... I also wanted to share something my friend made for me last week. I'm not a good cook when it comes to making sweet cakes and whatnot but I'm much better at heavy savoury stuff. My friend Vivian happened to be making a cake for her boss's wife's birthday and had decided on a Mango mousse cake. She made some for me to try to and handed it to me in a lil container and it's probably my first time tasting her cooking.

Ok so these were taken on my phone but it still looks great right? With strawberry decoration and all... mango mousse with a cake base on the bottom. I'm not a fan of sweet stuff and this wasn't that sweet at all which is great for me. Totally enjoyed it and could tell she really went through all the trouble to make it. Thanks Viv!!!

The same day I was given the cake I happened to come across this new cupcake place in QV as I was going home. Now in my old blog (if you've read it) I made a post on the cupcake bakery which opened not long ago in Melb Central. Well I thought I'd try this place out too so headed there to see what they had left (it was the end of the day unfortunately).

There are heaps of these cupcake franchises popping up nowadays and this one is joining in on the popularity and demand for such treats. This place is the cupcake FAMILY not to be mistaken for the cupcake BAKERY hhahahaha... So I was lining up to get what I wanted and there weren't much left to choose from, and I'm not kidding everyone in the line were COUPLES~~~ all chattering about what they would like to try bleh~~~ Guess these are treats to have with your partner for a romantic night in after dinner~~ but whatever... I was determined to get my hands on some before they ran out. They also sell mini cupcakes but I got the regular sized ones to get a real taste of what they're like.

So I quickly picked the two that were most appealing to me...I got the snowy strawberry which had a sherbet like frosting and a gluten free chocolate muffin (quite bland actually). I also got the green tea cupcake and this tasted much better, it had that green tea plus sweet taste of what cupcakes are supposed to be but it wasn't too sweet hahaahaha... Their varieties I have to admit are quite different from the cupcake bakery with the usual ones you would find but it was worth a try. If you're in Melbourne you're not going to miss these franchises in and around the area, if you see it just try it (but not too much heheheeh).

Ok this was really just a quick post I wanted to do before I get into my skincare stuff (but still working on putting watermarks on them...) So do you have a sweet tooth? My acne fight!

This will be my 1st long post yet…coz I really wanna share all the knowledge I know about developing acne and treating them (through my personal experience). So let’s get right into it:

Skin condition history:

Well, you probably wouldn’t believe it but I was never this fair and I quite enjoyed my time in the sun back in high school. It was also through my junior years in high school that I didn’t have any problems with my skin until I realized I was starting to breakout in my senior years. This was quite normal I guess but it was only the occasional zits here and there (big sore red ones too) but nothing you can’t handle (with an added bit of teasing~~~~). When I was 16 I suddenly didn’t have any more acne problems to deal with because I was going through some medical treatments which prevented me from breaking out…it was a couple of years I got to enjoy flawless skin woo hoo… Once I started recovering and got into uni it was about my 3rd year there that I started to breakout once again… this time it’s worse, I originally thought it was due to stress, bad eating habits and lack of sleep caused by my studies. And since I didn’t have the time to really deal with it I did the best I can back then to conceal all the spots but it just got worse… I recently graduated from uni and thought my bad skin days would be gone soon… but you wouldn’t believe it the acne condition got worse than when I was studying~~~ what the indeed…. My acne regions were along my jaw line, my chin and my two cheek areas. The worst was probably my chin it would get so sore and red that it would be difficult to talk as any movement was just too painful.

My previous treatments:

Ok, so I started caring for my skin when I was a teen in order to prevent such bad events of severe acne but I failed… If there is anything out there that claims to fight or prevent acne…believe me I’ve tried them all. Let’s list them: facial treatments, IPL, microdermabrasion, topical solutions (sorta alcohol like), a great skincare routine, eating a healthy diet, sun protection, drinking heaps of water, tried mineral makeup, antibiotics, taking the pill with acne fighting ingredients in it, fruit extract juices (packed with antioxidants), dietary supplements which helps heal skin conditions (eg. Evening primrose capsules), sleeping early, trying to relax and not cause any more anxieties or stress, oil blotting…. You name it and I’ve tried it guess I was desperate for an answer. Here’s is where I think I should mention my younger sister who suffered severe acne in high school, went to see the dermatologist and was on the Oratane treatment (exactly the same as Roaccutane or Accutane). As the acne was spreading from her face to her chest and back… It’s now completely gone and she has great skin … baby smooth actually so that definitely worked for her… But I wasn’t convinced about giving this a try until it was my last resort. And yep, I was pretty much at my wit’s end by now as I haven’t had a break from acne for years (never had a break from pain on my face) and whether I was going through my menstrual cycle or not it just didn’t matter it was just continuous and annoying… With all the bad side effects I’ve heard about the strong drugs for fighting acne, I was really reluctant to go on them but there was no choice…But only if you have tried absolutely everything you can, including changing your lifestyle, only then can you start to consider consulting your GP about such treatments as Oratane.

What is acne?

I know many gurus or bloggers have addressed this question but here’s my take on it from what my docs have told me. Acne develops from the oil producing glands under the surface of the skin, there is no problem having slightly oily skin because there is a purpose for it. It is the oil that is produced which flows to the surface of the pores at the same time taking away the dead skin cells along the walls of the pores (and that’s a good thing). However, when excess oil is being produced and is mixed with dead skin cells it clogs up the pore and nothing is able to escape hence turning into pimples. Yep, you’re right for a couple of years I have been noticing that my oil glands are producing more and more oil and clogged pores meant heaps of black and whiteheads~~ ewww.. I know… But it’s the truth. In terms of other causes of acne well puberty is the one we all know about (but I’m way past that stage now), genetics is another reason (if your close relatives were and are suffering severe acne then it’s likely that you would too), if you have sensitive skin then makeup or working in a greasy environment may be the causes. My dermo couldn’t figure out my exact cause but it probably has something to do with genetics and hormonal issues. (Below is a picture I took of the information pamphlet my doc gave me).

Ok, I’m no expert about this whole acne business but I’m still going through it now in my 20s because previous medical treatments in my teen years have delayed my acne fight till now…what a bummer~~~ just when you have to come out and face the world hahahhaaha

My Oratane treatment:

Just to be clear you can’t just start such strong medication for acne just coz you want to. You have to prove that you’ve tried all the other antibiotics and creams by your local GP before getting referred to a specialist. I’m not lying when I say that I was worried and nervous about starting this whole Oratane business (I really wanted it to go away on its own) coz there are a list of side effects to worry about. I was on some antibiotics which weren’t working anymore against acne, and had to immediately stop taking them before starting my Oratane treatment (because the clash of the two will make your brain swell~~~), blood tests had to be done prior to starting the Oratane as well to see if you have liver problems, cholesterol issues and other major health problems and your BMI has to be within the healthy level too. One thing to remember is that once you start the meds the acne actually gets worse before it gets better… so the 1st few weeks may be difficult with all the sudden breakouts.

Side effects of Oratane:

Oratane works by reducing the amount of oils being produced by the oil glands which in turn reduces the amount of bacteria in the skin that causes acne. Hence, the first side effect everyone will experience is dryness everywhere in the body…and I mean everywhere (so moisturizing is terribly important). Your skin will also be sun sensitive (which is bothersome coz Summer is coming~~~) which means sun protection is crucial. Oratane may cause joints and muscles in the body to be in pain and you may experience a degree of tiredness as well. Pregnant ladies or women planning to be pregnant shouldn’t take this medication because it cause irreversible birth defects, and you cannot get pregnant immediately after your treatment until you pass a period of time where the levels of Oratane has completely left your body. There are also certain skin conditions or infections to consider, most with Asian complexion are born or prone to suffering from eczema and the Oratane can aggravate that condition and cause it to come back. That means you will have to treat for eczema and acne at the same time. My recent episode of allergic reaction (previous post) was caused by taking a higher dose of Oratane where I was covered in red and extremely itchy spots from head to toe (scary huh?). I had severe eczema as a child and the medication just made it all come back 100 times worse.

WARNING: Gross pics below!!! But it's great for contrast and if it's helped ppl like me gain my confidence back then it's the results that really tell the story (doesn't have to be flawless/ perfect BTW). This dude was photographed for the pamphlet I got given.

Ok I know the above might have scared you all… especially when I had to go through the ordeal of an allergic reaction (biopsy included to find out the cause sighZ~~~). But I’m back at it, just started my Oratane again at the lower dose which I know I have no problems with and probably won’t increase my dosage but instead stay on the treatment for longer …probably 6months to ensure nothing shocking happens again. I still have acne popping up here and there when I’m on the medicine and I don’t expect it to be gone in an instant but my previous bad habits of picking and popping the acne has caused heaps of scarring which will hopefully fade over time. My specialist did a procedure to pop my cystic acne so they won’t grow back in the same areas again (and they haven’t YAY). But it really should be done by the pros coz they know best.

Current skin condition:

Currently, while taking the Oratane…my skin has definitely dried up heaps than before not as oily as it used to be. My black and whiteheads have almost all disappeared leaving behind… my opened pores (I’ve always had clogged pores which meant it kept my pores big bleh~~~). I do get red easily if the water temperature is too warm and if the sun is directly hitting my face. My lips are especially dry and seem to crack easily if I don’t constantly apply lipbalm. I still have scaring and a couple of acne areas but the areas are shrinking which means most of the pimples have disappeared leaving behind smooth areas of skin (much better than the bumpy feeling of acne prone skin). Below is my current skin condition, prone to redness once I'm outta the shower with heaps of scars and during the day lightly covered with BBcream (only a lil there is no need for any concealer or heavy coverage). Scars can still be seen through the BBcream but honestly I don't care hahaahaaha coz it's looking heaps better than what it was before TRUST ME!!! It'll only get better from here on since I have ages to go in my treatment YAY!!!

Following from this long acne lecture with my personal experience included…I may now move onto my skincare routine which has completely changed and for good reasons coz my skin has become super sensitive and there shouldn’t be anything used on the surface to make the skin worse and prevent the medication from working within your body. Will tell you all about the restrictions to skincare and makeup if you're like me and on strong acne treatment.'

So here's the thing... I think I've always been a person who keeps people waiting for me... In terms of meeting up with friends and heading out I've always been the one that's late. Now, I'm a puntual person when it comes to important appointments but never seemed to make it on time when meeting up with others. This probably topped its worse back in high school when I kept one of my friend waiting for me for hrs... on the day of her birthday as I was the only one willing to celebrate it with her (I overslept~~~). I've been getting complaints from friends here and there over years about my constant lateness turning up to stuff... Yep, and you bet I started to feel awfully guilty....

Now the tables have turned... I'm now the one who is doing all the waiting like long waiting. IT'S TOTALLY KARMA... been doing it for years previously and now it's my turn hahahahaaha... I like to be punctual now and know the importance of doing so but sometimes it can't be helped if others are late either way I'll just have to wait. But just the past weekend I was suppose to meet up with a friend after church. Guess the timing just wasn't right, when I finished up at my church, my friend had just started his church service somewhere else... So I waited in the city for like AGES!!! So I took the chance to do a bit of walking around and shopping... thought I'd share a lil piece of Melbourne here

Yep, it's the buskers or street performers that brings the streets alive here providing great entertainment for passerbyers...I enjoyed them for sure...

After walking around for so long and coz I kept shopping... I thought I better stop (which I may share next time) and decided to go to my fave new cafe (Emily's Place) in Melbourne Central and sit out the rest of my wait... They serve the best chai lattes at this place and I'm quite a regular these days, especially when I'm bored and waiting for people...I always manage to squeeze in one cup over some reading and week planning hahaahaha

By the time you know it... it was early evening and then my friend finally rocks up... and since my sister was getting off work soon... We decided to wait for her before we went out for any eating and drinking (since we were in the area). My sis worked till closing time so I was practically waiting for quite some hours...but I got to spend time on my own which was lovely and no I didn't get mad at him (I'm just too nice of a person haahhahaahaha)...

So we immediately went out to eat as my sis and I were hungry as~~~After an early dinner we headed over to a bar called CHO GAO for some drinks... Well they drank and I had OJ heheheehe. Above is my beautiful sister Sylvia and weird looking Chucky haahahahaah... We really enjoyed ourselves chatting about all sorts of stuff and catching up since we haven't all hung out like this for a couple of months. Catch up sessions are great but hard to do when everyone's schedules are so busy these days... Gotta cherish it when it does happen I suppose.

Ok well that's all I wanted to share today... will do an upcoming post on my skincare routine and current skin condition (which has been long awaited I know~~~ but it's coming... but it ain't anything special).

P.S. Keep in mind if you make others wait for you and it's become your habit... you better change it coz like me ... Karma has finally caught up to me and it's like a 360degree turn around now... Totally feeling how others might have felt years ago. Be punctual at whatever you do and know that it'll be appreciated hehehehe... that's my personal advice (since I have heaps of bad habits bleh~~ this is one of them).

Rainy days in Spring

Sorry haven't been blogging coz I've been a lil busy doing stuff here and there...so I'm way too tired by the time I get home and get ready for bed... So this post will be a quick one just so I keep the ball rolling hahhaahah...Ok so I said I would talk about my skincare and makeup routine (updated one) but I just haven't got the time yet... Will do it once I'm free with all the current products I'm using right now.

In the meantime, I don't know what to say but the weather in Melbourne has been real shitty for Spring. And it's such gloomy days that really gets me tired and in a bad mood (grrr...).

Check it out... took these literally moments ago in the car while I was out (on my mobile)... and yep it's pouring cats and dogs~~~ I mean we so need the rain coz of water restrictions throughout Australia but man this is too much hahahahahaha... But it'll be raining for awhile yet so let's hope it brightens soon....

On another note, following on from my Mod about Brights O.P.I nail polishes I wanted to also share my new polish from that range which I've been dying to get my hands on.... Introducing....

It's a great pastel navy blue colour which shows up darker when you're indoors and brightens up to a very well.. blue colour... with a nice sheen. Really does look great doesn't it?

Thursday meetup...

I headed out yesterday to the city coz I had planned to meet up with Sunny on her day off from uni. She's been missing her Korean food and so we decided to have some for lunch, before getting on with some studies which I might be able to help her with...

First things first... is getting ready to go out....

Alright so these are pics of me in my bathroom the only place in my house that has any decent lighting hahahaha... So as you can tell it must have been a very good sunny day hahaahaha and it was... Now I've been going for a really toned down look these days coz I'm restricted to the amount of makeup I'm allowed to apply (orders from the dermotologist) which I'll share more about later... But one things for sure I can't live without a lil colour on my lips and my mascara!!! hehehehe....

Headed out to the city and actually had enough time to sit at a lil cafe and sip on a cup of chai latte coz as usual ... Sunny was running a lil late (1/2hr to be exact hahaahahaha).... There was no doubt about it we were hungry by the time she turned up... so off to lunch we go...

So went to our usual Korean restaurant (Oriental Spoon) which is probably the only one that Sunny actually likes. The above are the pork and vegie steamed dumplings which weren't bad (first time we ordered this...)

Here is the Kimchi Jeon (kimchi pancake) whcih we kinda always seem to order hahahaha... We also ordered a kimchi stew with tofu and pork with a bowl of rice each... but I didn't take photos of those coz we were starved... Although after our entrees we were already full... so we didn't finish off the stew and I had barely touched my rice~~~bleh~~~~

After lunch we each had a few things we needed to go and buy while we were in the city. She wanted shoes and I needed to help my sister and buy something from Kiehl's. So it was great to walk around after a tummy full of food.

A very nice day out indeed... this was taken in front of Melbourne's famous State Library... I was really just helping Sunny capture her last moments in Melbourne before going back to Korea with my camera around Melbourne city....

So as I was going around and taking pictures of Sunny so she can show her friends around Melbourne.... Check out this dude!!! I'm obviously pretty busy holding up a camera and taking photos of a friend who is just standing there waiting and posed ready... This guy comes straight over to me as I'm preoccupied and asks me for directions!!! Man... I was pretty sure there were heaps more ppl that were walking behind me which he could have approached and asked. Not only was he in the way but I couldn't even understand what he was asking about.... "Sorry man I have no clue where you wanna go..." As he approached me and we were talking...Sunny later asked me... "Winnie what happened? What did he want?" I explained that he was asking for directions at the most inappropriate time and she said "Oh Winnie, I thought he was asking you out"..... Ummmm.... what the??? NEVER~~~~ Man how weird would that be??? hahahahha...

After going around, shopping and getting the things we need... there was one place I wanted to check out....

Yep it's the new Lindt cafe which opened up along the famous Collin st. It's right next to the Tiffany & Co. boutique. Ok, so this place ain't so new no more but I'm late on giving this place a try since I have been sick at home for weeks previously.

What I wanted most was to try their array of macarons~~~ which they named Lindt delice... I ordered two one vanila and the other pink one is the rosella and peach excellence (if I remember correctly ahahaha). They are good if you have a very sweet tooth~~~~ hahahahaha... Very thin shell on the outside the gooey sugary-ness on the inside.....

As a beverage I ordered an Iced Mocha....gosh it was huge and I think its either the chocolate or the coffee that was kinda bitter~~~ I couldn't really finish it off either... Sunny ordered an Iced dark chocolate ...full of calories that day geez~~~~ haahaahahaa

Is Sunny playing with food? Naughty naughty~~~ ahahahahah very cute though....

As Sunny ducked out to the ATM... I was kinda bored and since I would look silly talking to myself I just took snapshots of myself while staring at the mirror across from me hahahaaha

Check out the white and bright interior design.... loving it... feels really high class in there. Heaps of chocolate confectionaries to buy till your hearts content. And of course, I didn't get any coz... I was already sick from what I just had hahaahahaah ....

Alright, so that's basically what happened yesterday, great day to catch up and just relax hahahaha...Now at the beginning I mentioned studying~~~~ well we did some...headed off to Starbucks and sat and did some readings and discussion about marketing stuff... But yea we didn't get heaps done at all~~~~ Our day was filled with filling our stomaches ahahahaha

Before going I thought I might share some photos which turned out shitty~~~ ... Can u spot me in the pics? Gosh sometimes you get good ones and sometimes you get ones which were very bad ideas to start off with hahaahahha... oh well.. what can you do? Left to right: me legs in the reflection of the windows, the back of my head sitting on the couch in front of the mirror and a reflection of myself through the striped mirrored wall hahaahahaha....

Ok that's all I have to share right now... but I will have to go into my newly updated skincare and makeup routine and believe me it ain't much anymore hahahaahaha... Nonetheless I'll share what I used to do for a comparison :) And also... man~~~ my hair colour has been fading an awful lot nowadays... crap...could it be time for another salon visit? Crap...my memories are fading so fast these days.... Really wanted to do an update on what I've been up to...but when I sit down and think about it... I can't seem to remember hehehehe...

Ok.. so last Saturday was what we Chinese call the mid-autumn festival night...What do you do then? Yep, that's have a family dinner out only with the family...My family went to our favourite Shark Finn Inn (this can't be mistaken to the Shark Finn House place I went for yum cha in an earlier post). I've been to Shark Finn Inn since I was born....It was our family gathering restaurant whenever we have relatives over from overseas or to celebrate these important days in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. BUT~~~ we were like 15mins late to the dinner that night so I totally forgot to bring my camera~~~ CRAP!!!! Anywayz...It was great heading out with the family and just enjoying good food while chatting and laughing...haven't done this in a long while since we all do our own thing hahahahaha... But since it's about family here's some old photos of my family (all whom I cherish to death)

Hope you all enjoyed your time with your families over the weekend because it's always great to have family time. We all live under the same roof but hardly know what we're all up to sometimes so.... a sit down over dinner was the best idea ever hahahahaha...

Ok... now what's next? Hrmmm.... Oh right... So over the weekend it was also clean up the house day...bleh~~~ and guess what my mum said: "Darling, can you please clean up your room, coz it's really messy and how do you live like that?" HAHHAAHHAHAH.... You guys be the judge of that....

Uh huh... this is my study desk/area....now that I don't study... geez... it's quite messy and the reason why I don't work in this area anymore is coz there is NO ROOM~~~~

Umm.... this is my bedside table/drawers.... with all sorts of stuff sitting on it and yep... NO ROOM left (most are my cosmetics bags holding heaps of stuff~~)

I dunno... but the only area that's kinda clean is my hat stand turned into a bag stand... All my bags hooked and stacked up on that wooden thing... But the problem is... yep! NO MORE ROOM... and this is weighing quite a bit now and did fall on me once or twice (oh dear, it may kill me in the future)~~~Bags on top of bags....

My un-made bed... and a close up of my convict bear which sleeps with me every night...and he doesn't seem to be phased about the mess around him hahhaahahhaa.....

A lil background about my convict bear... He came from here... (in the gift shop of course...) Yep, I bought him from my Tasmania trip awhile ago when we headed off to Port Arthur a former convict settlement town. They even say that ghosts still appears there~~~ scary~~~ (old buildings will do that to ya haahahaha).

So if only I can show you my room at my old sharehouse (which I moved out to)...I was living with other housemates closer to uni last year and I swear I kept my room a lil more organised than the above (I think)...But once I moved back with my family...gosh I don't know what happened? Don't get me started on the wardrobe...its kinda shocking... too much shopping... and not enough ROOM again~~~ sighZ~~~ hahahahaha... I sense a spring or summer clean up coming up soon....But right now... in my opinion it ain't so bad yet heheheeh....

My sis and I went out late last night to do our grocery shopping...we don't really eat the same things as my parents do so we would do our own shopping separately, buying the things we want. And we came across these...

All these for 5bucks... ahahhahaha but yea we love the yoghurts and the mousses, creme caramels etc. When stuff is on specials its the best and we love to go grocery shopping at night when there is no one there.... nice and quiet and we can take our bloody time~~~

There they are stacked up in the corner of my fridge hahahahahah man.. that's heaps to get through.... We bought other stuff too of course... but these were a bargain which I wanted to share (these are prob as unhealthy as it gets... we don't ever buy chips or candy).

Alright, being true to the changing season (into Spring in Aus) I've painted my nails in a new colour I bought recently. This is in the colour Green-wich Village by O.P.I's Mod about Brights range. And I've never tried green nail polish before and I have to say I'm really liking it... looks pretty cool right?... and why do I care what colours I have on my nails I ain't at uni (having to do presentations) and I ain't got no job (currently hehehehee)...so I can apply any colours to my liking wooo~~~ And that's the end of my update thus far... These photos have not appeared in my old blog so I think I can just focus on doing things here from now on... But check it out since I did do quite a few entries there on my life...like ...3months of my life before transferring here ahahahaha ain't long but I tried to learn all the basic there.

Now I wanna say a big THANKS to all the ppl who have stopped by or stubbled across my blog recently coz I really do appreciate it... AND look I've got ONE FOLLOWER HAHAHAAHAH... (about time huh?). A quick & unhealthy brekkie

Just wanted to share what I decided to have for brekkie this morning once I woke up... Mind you I didn't wake up all that early but nonetheless it was still morning-ish~~~ heheeheehe... Check out the easy ingredients...

Ok so if you're a health freak then you should probably look away... there is nothng healthy about this morning snack except for maybe the wholemeal bread... hahaahhah. So we've got wholemeal bread, grated tasty cheese, a tin of Heinz Spaghetti with extra cheesy sauce (oh dear~~~)... and an Up&Go liquid brekkie....

Take two slices of bread and smear out the spaghetti onto one slice....make sure you've got heaps of spaghetti there otherwise it won't be good~~~haahhahahaah

Then take your grated cheese and pile that on top of your spaghetti....and I mean pile it on~~~~(feeling super guilty since the tin already says its got extra cheesy sauce....)

Please ppl tell me that you have one of these toasted sandwich makers at home... I couldn't live without mine if I wanted a quick snack. Place the second slice of bread on top of it all and into the heated sandwich maker we go... ready to be toasted and pressed

This really doesn't take long maybe about 5mins and you're done~~~

Omgoodness... look at that cheesy goodness oozing out of the toasted sandwich... this is definitely something hard to eat coz as you eat one side it tends to leak out the other.... slurp slurp slurp~~~~heheheh

Oooooo~~~ totally satisfied... not the healthiest of course... but I don't have this every morning just once awhile when the craving sets in for something warm and filled with gooey cheese with tomato sauce (kinda like having pizza in a sandwich ahahhaaha)

Dull morning face... but who's looking? hahaahhaha.... Tummy is full now and very happy~~~on with the day...Do you have an early morning comfort food craving that's naughty? hahaahahahaa

New buys & My 1st giveaway entry....

Okie dokie...before I forget I thought I'd better do a quick post on just some of the things I bought on the day I went out to watch Haeundae. So I was to meet the girls at 12pm at Melbourne Central but I had woken up early and headed out with my parents, which meant I was able to be dropped off in the city (YAY!!! for free rides instead of taking public transport).

If you're from Melbourne you would have come across this popular clock aside from the clocks at Flinders st station heheehehe... Well now that Melbourne Central has been revamped, they managed to keep this old clock working and held at the same spot back in the days when Daimaru was around....Gosh~~ seems so long ago~~~ So as I was waiting for the girls to arrive the clock suddenly went off at 12 on the dot. And no surprises that it was playing the sweet melody of Waltzing Matilda hahaahaha... A song so true to the Aussie culture (named the second national Anthem heheehe). So the huge pocket watch opens up at the bottom as the music starts playing...something I've seen since I was a kid everytime I come back to the this place (but I haven't been fortunate enough to hear it go off in ages till now....).

So onto what I was able to purchase quickly with the extra hour I was in the city while being all by myself.

So I've been craving to get my hands on some new O.P.I nail polishes for the new Spring season and headed off to Petra (a place that sells heaps of hair products) to see what I liked. I came away with two new colours a hot pink and a green which I will go in more detail about once I've tried them on and compare the pink to my current Elephantastic Pink! Next I've also been meaning to buy something for my dry cuticles (which are shocking~~~) and while walking through DJ (David Jones) I came across this Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. Which I suddenly remembered appearing on Akisa's blog as well...so far I've tried it once and it does do the immediate rescue for your cuticles...I just have to use it for longer to see if my cuticles can now soften up.

I also bumped into my favourite SA at the Shu Uemura counter and was able to chat to her for awhile (coz it was way too early for any business) and she gave me heaps of samples for this new line which has come out called the red:juvenus. Now it's said to be helpful as an age prevention skincare range that takes away the dullness in the skin, prevents fine lines and loss of elasticity, hence promoting younger looking youthful skin for the bottom up. Sounds great right? Well it is... coz it has ingredients which have been known to help brighten your complextion...these include amalaki, pomegranate, lycopene capsule x2 check out Shu Uemura website

Just one lil thing I bought when I was out with the girls after our movie session. We dropped by my favourite Peter Alexander store...I wasn't meant to get anything but in the end I did~~~

Yep... these are what I like to call BUMMY PANTS... coz the bottom area of the pants are just so low and mind you it's terribly comfortable to wear (it says it's for sleep and casual day wear)... So it's like two garments in one really~~~ (that's my justification for getting it...wear it in bed and out at the stores hahaahah). Wanna see it on?

So before the day ends... and frankly I'm quite tired right now (and it's only 10.45pm!) I wanted to do a quick post on what happened today. The plan was that Sunny, Sulynn and I would go out for a CHEAP ASS TUESDAY movie in the city. What did we plan on watching?

Uh huh... HAEUNDAE. Now here's the thing... Hoyts at Melbourne Central has started to branch out and screen not only American movies but Bollywood and Asian movies too. So this was definitely going to draw more crowds to the cinemas for sure. I had no idea they were doing that till Sunny said that there is this rave going on in Korea about this particular Tsunami movie. I actually didn't know what to expect coz it felt a lil weird watching an Asian movie on the big screens when most would normally download it and watch it at home~~~~ hahahhaahahaa... But I'm glad I went... coz it was AWESOME... It was halarious, sad and shocking all at the same time...Gosh I walked feeling drained with mixed emotions. For the best part it was a huge production coz of all the effects being created and all but totally worth it. TWO THUMBS UP from me!!! Don't know if I should be mentioning this but the three of us cried like babies~~~~ no joke I'm real sensitive and would cry in cartoons... but I probably didn't expect Sunny to be sobbing throughout the movie hahahahahaha... It just shows that you have to go and watch this film while it's still in the cinemas in Melbourne now. And yep if you can't pronounce the name, I would just say Hyundai coz to me it sounds similar (but I was told it sounds nothing like that hahahaaha) whatever as long as the guy at the ticketbox understands....

So backtracking a lil... the movie was at 2pm and we had bought our tickets before heading off to lunch to ensure we get the seats we wanted. Lunch was held at Shark Finn House for their delish YUM CHA session in the arvo. Just a lil of what we ordered.....

I have to admit...and you're not blind it is definitely chicken feet that u see.... and that was all had by me alone since the others didn't have a liking towards it hahaahahaha.... mmmmm~~~

Man I couldn't begin to tell you what we ordered coz there was a lot!!! To be exact it was like over $80AUD worth of dim sums and what not.... HEAPS OF FOOD~~~

But the best was probably dessert as usual... EGG TARTS ALL THE WAY!!!

Let's all eat up now!!! hehehehehe.... Coz it's off to the movies soon~~~

And where was I? Behind the camera of course.. I was much happier taking shots of food and of others...But I was definitely there hahahhhahaa...

Allergy update~~~

Alright it's finally time for me to update on my current health issues which I've been suffering from for about 2weeks. Yep, that's the allergy reaction I had awhile back and I can finally say that I'm recovering well and the spots are disappearing slowly~~~ Biopsy results came back showing that it was my eczema condition which has been worsened by the fact that I had started my course of Oratane (cystic acne meds).... Apparently most Asians suffer from eczema as a child and when taking certain meds will aggrevate the condition in a short space of time (which looks totally gross...coz my eczema was never this irritating!!!). But it's all cool now~~~wooo~~~~

Here's a close up of what I had to go through... Ok...so it doesn't look that bad now but it was not long ago, that I was covered from head to toe with red spots...believe me!!! This is really when it's starting to disappear....still spotty I must say but I was told that it will eventually all go and no scars will be left behind as long as I don't scratch them... Phew~~~ Especially when the itchiness has gone now too...

One of the areas where the rash started to disappear from was my face... and here is my naked face with nothing on but moisturiser... Man ... it has cleared up so much coz I had major splotches all over the face and neck....totally hideous in my opinion...and the only reason why I definitely had to hide away from society ahahahaahaha...

Now that my face had cleared up and I wasn't feeling like I needed to itch myself while in public...It was time for me to head out of the house!!! Coz I can totally face ppl now without looking to unlike myself haahahahaha... So it was a must that I headed back to church yesterday (I had already missed 2weeks worth of service~~~). Not only that but I was excited to go out and see ppl again....too bad the weather was terribly windy and cold on the first day out for me....

This is what I had for my first meal out...with Sunny and Sulynn after church for lunch. We headed to Teppansan on Russel st in the city for their famous CHEAP ASS Okonomiyaki... They call it Japanese pizza with the choice of fillings... I ordered the one with pork...while the other girls had beef (I don't eat RED MEAT)... I'm all about the chicken and fish with the ocassional pork (but hardly much of it). It's vegetables all the way~~~I probably only got through half of the meal coz it wasn't that great (quite disappointing) and I ordered Takoyaki on the side too~~~

For the past 2weeks I haven't been all that caught up in food cravings but I was definitely craving for some real COFFEE...which I miss heaps!!! I was thinking about a cup of hot coffee the entire time I was at home and finally got the chance yesterday to head to Koko Black for my fave Hot Chocolate Mocha ahhhhh~~~ Completely satisfied~~~ I've cut down on my coffee intake since I left uni but I can't live without it that's for sure. The above photo is one I took of the very last coffee I had before I broke out in allergies...I went out shopping that day then to Laurent with my sister for a break from shopping and to relax..we both admired the froth art hehehehe....its so cool ... didn't want to mess it up really... and the coffee was GREAT!!!

And that ends my first day out yesterday (Sunday)... Really satisfied coz I got to eat and drink my long awaited coffee I've been dying to have~~~ and most of all got to go to church to meet up with Sunny and her housemate Sulynn. Worse thing was the weather... super windy and freezing...HOW IS THIS SPRING??? sighZ~~~~ It'll get better soon I'm sure hehehhehee.... Stay well now ppl....

Korean studies...

Just a lil about my talent in studying languages.... Well I have NONE!!! hahahaha... No joke, I'm Chinese/Malaysian (specifically...Mum is Malaysian and Dad is from Hong Kong) but I was born in Melbourne (Australia) so... I'm Aussie. There was never a need to learn anything but English. I was even so confused when I was younger listening to cantonese at home and then going to school and hearing english...I thought ppl would understand me if I was expressing the same words but in cantonese to my friends in primary school (really only thought there was the one universal language hahhaahaha).. but realised no one understood me and thought I was speaking some alien language.

Then it was time to go and study Chinese (mandarin) which many would be forced to do when you're young and when you have nothing to do on your weekends. Man~~~ I totally dreaded it... to the point of wagging school every week for a month and getting caught... I was never good at learning mandarin coz cantonese at home was hard enough~~~~ So I dropped out.

In high school the only language I loved to learn was French and I wasn't too bad at it but then followed the trend to study Japanese. But yet again after so many years of learning jap in school I wasn't that great at it in the end ... I'm more a listener than a speaker...

At uni I felt that maybe I should be getting back to my roots somehow and picked up Chinese again as my minor in my Arts degree .... But man oh man~~~ I sucked at it bad ... In fact all the western dudes in my class was much better than me (and all other ABC looking aussie born chinese). I'm so ashamed and I had no idea what I was doing there or what I was even learning~~~ My limit was at level 8 when others went onto level 13 or something~~~ bummer....

And now... in preparation for my trip to Korea with my bestie Sunny... I've decided with my limited language talent I have that I would start learning some Korean (even if it is only basic)... Here's how I've been doing it....

Purchased an electronic dictionary which I've never felt the need to buy even when I was studying Jap or Chinese... But guess it's time to get serious now~~ This one is the Casio EW-H7100 gosh... I forgot how much it is but it's affordable coz I bought it online with my other friend from my Korean class who happened to be wanting one too ... Here is where I purchased it from ... very trusty and fast too....

At start of the year I even joined up a short course class at CAE in the city (night school for adults) to learn Korean... and finished level 1 ahahahhaha...
Vivian my bestie in class says that she had a friend who was at the time in Korea and could ask him to buy us a beginners level textbook to help us learn... and it would be so much cheaper to purchase from Korea ($20 AUD) compared to $80AUD purchased in Melb... And here it is.... such a great textbook ...really does go through all the basics hahahaahaha....

And so I'm still learning.... Going to classes, buying books and an electronic dictionary so maybe I'll get better over time provided I stick to it~~~With all the languages I've been learning over the years I'm never really good at speaking them... I'm great at listening though... The problem with learning English first is that it's very hard to pronounce certain sounds... hence I'll never be fluent in foreign languages, I'll just be content when others can understand even a lil of what I want to express :)
